Just a few hours before the Google I / O 2014 conference in which Google will announce its main novelties for this year, a publication from the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has reignited the flame of rumors related to a new version of Android. Google is expected to present a new version of its mobile operating system that will correspond to Android 5.0 and will bring many new features compared to Android 4.4 KitKat; in fact, a few hours ago, several captures were leaked in which this new and supposed version of the Android operating system appeared.
Through a publication in the form of an image, HTC has asked its followers of the social network Twitter what name they think Google will associate in Google I / O 2014 with the new version of the Android operating system. This new version will succeed Android 4.4 KitKat and, therefore, the new letter that we will see in the name of this version will be the letter " L ". Therefore, all the possibilities of the names of this new version can only correspond to dessert names in English that begin with the letter "L".
Leaving aside the possible name with which Google will surprise us when presenting Android 5.0 (or Android 4.5, since there is also the possibility that it uses this other numbering), what is really interesting about this new version of the Android operating system will be all the news that will arrive with her. Although there is no official confirmation in this regard, the news of Android 5.0 "L" could be the following:
- Pop-up notifications. Now the Android operating system could incorporate a function that would allow to show pop-up notifications in the form of floating windows that would be above the application that we had open at that moment. From what has been learned through the filtered captures, this function could be activated and deactivated at any time from the notification bar.
- Fully integrated virtual buttons. One of the biggest problems with mobiles with virtual buttons built into the screen is that these buttons take up part of the useful space on the screen. In this way, when we open an application we appreciate that the buttons occupy a strip that subtracts part of the size of the screen. With the new version of Android, the virtual buttons would be fully integrated on top of the applications, so that the annoying black / white strip that these virtual buttons created until now would disappear completely.
- Notification bar renewed. As is usual in the vast majority of major Android updates, the new version of Android 5.0 would bring with it a notification bar with modernized and slightly retouched icons.
From here we have no choice but to be attentive to the Google I / O 2014 event that will take place at 6:00 p.m. (in Spain) on June 25. Some of the presentations can be followed live through this link: https://www.google.com/events/io/schedule.
