Honor, the European brand that debuted in Europe at the hands of Huawei, has presented a new mid-range smartphone that goes by the name Honor Holly. We are facing a terminal that reaches the market to accompany the Honor 3C and the Honor 6, the two current reference mobiles of this brand in European territory. The Holly Honor is presented with a screen five inches with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, a processor of four cores, 1 gigabyte of RAM and operating system Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
The most striking thing about the Honor Holly is that, although its starting price will be set at 140 euros, it will be the users themselves who will have the possibility of lowering this figure to a lower price. Let's know more about this mobile in the following analysis of the Honor Holly.
Display and layout
The Holly Honor comes with a screen IPS of five inches reaching a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. This display achieves a pixel density set at 294 ppi, and offers a total of 16 million colors.
The design of the Honor Holly is a relatively simple smartphone, made entirely of plastic, which comes with dimensions of 142.2 x 72.3 x 9.4 mm and weighing 156 grams. On the front of the Honor Holly we can see three touch buttons located below the screen ( Back , Home and Menu ), a speaker located at the top and a front camera accompanied by several sensors. In the back housing you can see the main camera, the LED Flash, the Honor logo and a speaker, while on the right side we find the power button and the volume button.
Camera and multimedia
The main chamber of the Honor Holly is eight megapixels and is supported by a Flash LED aimed at improving the lighting pictures taken in low light. This camera can take pictures with a maximum resolution of 3,264 x 2,448 pixels, whereas in the case of video resolution can reach 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.
The main camera options of this mobile include autofocus, touch focus, geotagging, face detection, panorama mode and HDR mode.
The secondary camera of the Honor Holly is located on the front of the terminal, and houses inside sensor two megapixels.
The Honor Holly also incorporates FM Radio and is compatible with the following audio / video formats: MP3, WAV, eAAC +, Flac, MP4 and H.264.
Processor and memory
The Holly Honor incorporates a processor MediaTek of four cores corresponding to the numbering of MT6582. It is a quad-core processor whose clock speed is set at 1.3 GHz, which means that we are talking about a processor that offers optimal performance for a mid-range smartphone. The graphics processor responds to the Mali-400MP2 name, and the RAM that accompanies the main processor has a capacity of 1 GigaByte.
The internal storage space is expandable by means of a microSD card (that is, an external memory card) of up to a maximum of 32 GigaBytes. In any case, taking into account that the internal memory of this mobile is set at 16 GigaBytes, in principle an average user should not worry about space unless they intend to store a significant number of photos, videos and songs.
Operating system and applications
The factory installed operating system on the Honor Holly corresponds to Android, the operating system of the American company Google. The version that this terminal incorporates is Android 4.4.2 KitKat, one of the versions prior to Android 5.0 Lollipop. This operating system is also complemented by Huawei's customization layer, Emotion UI, in its Emotion UI 2.3 version.
As is usual in smartphones that incorporate the Android operating system, the Honor Holly incorporates a multitude of applications developed by Google. This includes applications such as Google Chrome, Gmail, Google Plus or Google Maps, among others. Additionally, there are also applications installed by Huawei, which includes apps such as Music, Clock, Flashlight or Weather. The user can install additional applications from the first moment - many of them available for free - using the Google Play store, the official section in which Google makes both its applications and applications developed by third parties available to everyone.
Connectivity and autonomy
In the section of wireless connectivity, the Honor Holly boasts 3G, WiFi (802.11 b / g / n, Wi-Fi Direct), Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS (with A-GPS technology) connectivity. On the part of the physical connectivities we have a microUSB 2.0 port, one minijack output of 3.56 mm, and a microSD card slot, plus the slot for the Micro-SIM card.
The Honor Holly battery has a capacity of 2,000 mAh. At the moment, Honor has not provided the figures regarding the autonomy of this smartphone.
Availability
The Honor Holly will be available in Spain from February 23 with a starting price that, in principle, will be set at 140 euros. And we say in principle because Honor has decided to apply a curious strategy in the distribution of this smartphone; it will be the users themselves who will decide the price of the Honor Holly. The starting price of 140 euros can be reduced depending on the interest that users show for this terminal through a bidding system that will be available on the official Honor website (www.hihonor.com/pricehacker).
The more bids there are, the lower the starting price of the Honor Holly will be. The period during which bids will be accepted will be 20 days (from today, on Feb. 5), and on February 23 the starting price will be known that users have achieved through their participation. Of course, this price will be valid at a single point of sale and for a specific period of time.
