After several rumors and leaks, the Honor 9 Lite is now official. The trimmed version of the Honor 9 arrives with quite considerable changes compared to its older brother. But undoubtedly the most striking, and expected, is the change to a screen with reduced frames. The Honor 9 Lite follows the trend for 18: 9 screens and looks more modern than the top model. Inside we have a Kirin 659 processor, two memory variants and a 3,000 milliamp battery. All this topped off by a set of four cameras and Android 8.0 Nougat.
The Honor 9 Lite will go on sale in China on December 26 in various versions. The most basic model, with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, will start at a price of 150 euros to change. We are going to review in depth what this new and interesting Honor mobile offers us.

Honor joins fashion
Honor introduced the Honor 9, its new flagship, in early June. Many of us were surprised that the company didn't embrace the frameless design that has become so fashionable this year. However, the manufacturer has succumbed to its new terminal.
The Honor 9 Lite offers a design that mixes metallic edges with 2.5D glass on both the front and the back. The latter is very similar to what we see in the Honor 9, and even in the Honor 8. We have a glossy finish with the double camera located in the upper left corner. However, the new design has forced the fingerprint reader to be moved to the rear. We have it located right in the center.
At the front we have two great protagonists. On the one hand, the screen, a 5.65-inch IPS panel, Full HD + resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels and 18: 9 format.
On the other hand, we have the double front camera, which we will talk about later. The Honor 9 Lite measures 151 x 71.9 millimeters and is only 6 millimeters thick. Its weight is 149 grams. If we compare it with the Honor 9, it has dimensions of 143.3 x 70.9 x 7.5 millimeters and a 5.15-inch screen.
The more cameras the better
That is what many of the mobile manufacturers must have thought. Now that dual rear cameras have become almost standard, dual front cameras are here. So the new Honor terminal was not going to be less than its competition.
That is why the Honor 9 Lite has a double camera both in front and behind. In fact, we have the same set in both positions.
Specifically, it equips a dual camera system with a 13 megapixel sensor accompanied by a 2 megapixel sensor. These lenses are accompanied by a PDAF focus system, HDR mode, panorama mode, beauty mode, bokeh effect, and more.
As we said, we have the same 13 + 2 megapixel system on the front. This will allow us to take selfies with the desired bokeh effect.
Powerful mid-range processor
Of course, a Lite version will not include the latest processors from the company. Still, the Honor 9 Lite offers a technical set of guarantees.
We have a Kirin 659 processor with eight cores running at a maximum speed of 2.36 GHz. Accompanying this processor we will have several memory options. At least in China, there will be models with 3 or 4 GB of RAM, as well as 32 or 64 GB of internal storage.
For the rest, the Honor 9 Lite has a 3,000 milliamp battery and the usual connectivity (4G, Bluetooth and WiFi). Of course, we will not have NFC or support for 4G + networks available.
And to control all this hardware, the Honor 9 Lite has EMUI 8.0, Huawei's customization layer that is placed on top of the Android 8.0 Oreo system.
Price and availability
The Honor 9 Lite will go on sale in China on December 26. The terminal will be available in four colors: blue, black, silver and white.
It will also come with several configuration possibilities in memory:
- The Honor 9 Lite with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage will cost 150 euros
- An Honor 9 Lite with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage will be priced at about 200 euros
- Finally, the Honor 9 Lite with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage will amount to 230 euros
At the moment its arrival on the European market has not been confirmed, but we hope that it will not take too long.
