Last February, Alcatel unveiled a series of affordable devices for all tastes. We are talking about the Alcatel 5, Alcatel 3 and their Alcatel 3X, Alcatel 3V, 3L and 3C variants. The devices have some of the latest features. They all have an infinity screen, a fingerprint reader (except for the 3L) and offer a simple and comfortable design for day to day. Of course, there are some differences between them, such as the photographic section (some have a dual sensor), the power or the battery. If you are thinking of getting one and you doubt, do not worry. Next, we review its main keys.
Display and layout
As we say, the Alcatel 3, 3X, 3V, 3L, 3 C and 5 have an infinity panel with an aspect ratio of 18: 9. The most significant difference is in screen size and resolution. The Alcatel 3 and 3L offer a screen size of 5.5 inches and resolution HD + 1,440 x 720 pixels. Its 3X, 3V and 3C variants include a larger one. The first is 5.7 inches and the other two 6 inches. With HD + and Full HD resolution (Alcatel 3V and 3C). For its part, the Alcatel 5 matches the 3X and also comes with a 5.7-inch HD + panel. All phones have IPS technology and offer acceptable quality for viewing multimedia content.
At the design level, we can say that the devices follow the line of other models of the company. They are comfortable and manageable and, in this case, all three have a metal and glass chassis. Materials that give them a touch of elegance and class. Also, there is almost no presence of frames. Without reaching the level of high-end phones like the Samsung Galaxy S9, where the presence of frames is almost nil, the screen is given a lot of prominence. Also, there is no start button. Everything is controlled via the touch panel. It should be noted, on the other hand, a fingerprint reader on the back, with the exception of the Alcatel 3L that does not include it. A little lower than this sensor, the company's seal is featured.
Processor and memory
All the devices offer a medium power, perfect for using current apps, browsing fluently or writing emails. The Alcatel 3C is powered by a Mediatek MT8321 processor, a quad-core chip that is accompanied by a 1GB RAM and 16GB of storage (expandable via 128GB microSD cards). The Alcatel 3, 3X and 3L include the same processor model. It is a MediaTek MT6739, with four process cores and 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of space (Alcatel 3 and 3L) and 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB, in the case of the Alcatel 3X. For its part, the Alcatel 3V mounts a MediaTek MT8735A, a very similar chip, also with four cores, which comes along with 16 GB of space and 2 GB of RAM.
If you are looking for an Alcatel that performs better, you will have to opt for the Alcatel 5. This mobile already houses an eight-core processor (MT6750), a 3 GB RAM and a 32 GB storage capacity (expandable by microSD as in all cases).
Photographic section
If you prefer a mobile with a double camera, the Alcatel 3X, 3V are the models that have dual sensors. The first comes with a 13 and 5 megapixel one and the second one is 12 and 2 megapixels. Alcatel's goal in making its second wide-angle lens is to achieve wider images and landscapes that are never cut off. All this thanks to the scope of a 120 degree angle. Nor could it miss the famous bokeh mode, which gives more priority to one object in the image by blurring the rest. For their part, the Alcatel 3, 3C and 3L include simple 8 and 13 megapixel cameras, respectively.
Back of Alcatel 3
While the entire Alcatel 3 series has a 5 megapixel front camera, the Alcatel 5 boasts a dual camera for selfies. It is, without a doubt, its main claim. This has a resolution of 13 megapixels with an aperture f / 2.0 (interpolated at 16 MP) and 5 megapixels (interpolated at 8 MP). The camera is capable of detecting when more than two faces are shown in the same image. Thus, it changes accordingly from portrait mode to super wide angle mode. This will give a higher quality to self-portraits, either alone or in company.
Battery and connections
All Alcatel 3 and 5 equip a 3,000 mAh battery. According to the manufacturer, this allows an autonomy of 320 hours in standby and 13 hours in conversation. Regarding the connections section, the devices have a wide range of options: Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n, Wi-Fi direct, Wi-Fi display, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS, as well as NFC and USB 2.0 Type C.
Back of Alcatel 5
On the other hand, the Alcatel 3 are governed as standard by Android 8, the latest version of Google's mobile platform. The Alcatel 5, however, integrates an older version, Android 7 Nougat.
