If you are one of the owners of the Huawei P10 and Huawei Mate 9, you are in luck. The Chinese brand has just made it official that its new version of EMUI, the brand's own customization layer, will be based on Android 8 Oreo, the last version of the green robot's operating system so far. This update corresponds to the version of EMUI 8.0 and you will get all the advantages that, right now, the few users of a terminal with Android 8 Oreo have. An announcement that coincides with the announcement of its new top of the range, the Huawei Mate 10, a phone that wants to be something more, as revealed by its processor intended for artificial intelligence.
Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei P10, with Android 8 Oreo before the end of 2017
Obviously, to these two terminals we must add two more, their respective older brothers, Huawei P10 Plus and Huawei Mate 9 Pro. If we stick to the information provided by the company, the update to Android 8 Oreo will begin to be deployed in the Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei Mate 9 Pro 'in three or four weeks' after the launch of the Huawei Mateo 10. A little more will have to wait for owners of the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus, about which they simply affirm 'will arrive in the near future'.
The first ones to end up receiving Android 8.0 Oreo will be the Mate 9 models because they are the ones with the longest age: they were launched almost a year ago. However, the P10 and P10 Plus arrived in stores, more or less, during the month of March of this year.
Every update brings a series of improvements to make the user experience much more comfortable. In Android 8 Oreo we can see some highly anticipated ones.

Notification point
For example now, without the need for third-party applications, we can see if we have any pending notification in any of the applications that we have installed. We will simply see a blue dot on the application when we have a pending email, in the case of Gmail.
Better notification management
Now we can configure any type of notification, as long as the application allows it. We can tell the application which section of it we are interested in appearing above any other notice or placing it as medium importance. So you can take full control of all notifications and receive only what really interests you, even within the same app. In addition, we can postpone, for a specified time, the notifications of any application. The times will be 15 and 30 minutes and up to 1 and 2 hours.
We continue with the notifications: the album art that we are listening to, for example, in Spotify, will appear, blurred, in the notifications field.
Picture in Picture
One of the most anticipated functions by all Android users. If an application is compatible with the Picture in Picture system, you can activate it as a pop-up screen and use other applications at the same time. What we have in Windows, the typical system of floating and configurable windows, but on our mobile. Now is a good time for this feature to appear, since the large screen of the phones on the market allow it.
Adaptive icons
Now, the icons on Android will be more homogeneous: they will have two image layers available: one, the icon design itself; the second, created by Android and that we can choose, to give the same shape to these icons. We can have them all square, or round, or squares with rounded edges… Now, our mobile will look much more elegant and organized.
These are some of the most significant changes to Android 8 Oreo. Changes that the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro terminals will be able to enjoy before the end of the year.
