Finally there was no surprise. The new Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are already official. And yes, they are exactly as the multiple leaks showed these days. The two models share technical characteristics, with the difference in the size of the screen. Compared to its predecessor, we have several important news. The Google Pixel 3 arrives with slight but important design changes, a new processor and a renewed front camera, now with a dual sensor.
And what about the main camera? As you can see in the images, it still has a single sensor. Google remains in its conviction that a second or even third sensor is not necessary to get better photos. Of course, it will arrive with Android 9 installed and in its purest version. We are going to learn more about what the new Google Pixel 3 offers us.

Google goes to the glass
Although Google has preferred to maintain a design similar to the one we saw in the Google Pixel 2 XL, the truth is that this new version has certain differences with its predecessor.
We have some frames around the screen cut out, somewhat smaller. The terminal frames are aluminum with hybrid coating. Also, the back is now polished glass (Corning Gorilla Glass 5). Thus the metal of last year is abandoned, a necessary step to implement wireless charging.
The "cut" at the top is kept, just above the fingerprint reader. The Pixel 3 has an IPX8 rating for water and dust resistance, so it cannot be submerged.
As for the screen, we have a 5.5-inch OLED panel with a FHD + resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. It has an 18: 9 aspect ratio and a 100,000: 1 contrast ratio. It supports HDR image playback and offers 24-bit depth. It thus remains one of the most compact high-end terminals on the market, since the Google Pixel 3 XL has a much larger screen.
Double front camera
We were all waiting to see what Google did with the camera on the new Pixel. And the company has decided to keep the camera simple, at least on the rear.
We once again have a 12.2 megapixel sensor with 1.4 μm pixels and f / 1.8 aperture. This comes with a powerful laser focusing system with Dual Pixel technology. In addition, it has electronic and optical image stabilization.
Although the hardware is very similar, Google has promised improvements in what is still one of the best cameras on the market. We will have to wait for a thorough test to verify it.
Where we do have important changes is in the front camera. The Google Pixel 3 is equipped with a dual 8-megapixel sensor. On the one hand we have a telephoto lens with aperture f / 1.8 and, on the other hand, a wide angle with aperture f / 2.2. The latter allows for a 107-degree field of view, making it ideal for group photos.
New power, but no surprises
As in almost any annual renewal of a top-of-the-range model, we have a processor change. The Google Pixel 3 hides inside a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip. This is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage, depending on the version we choose. And we must choose well, because it is not expandable.
As for the battery, we have a capacity of 2,915 mAh. Now it has fast charging and wireless charging. In addition, Google has taken advantage of the launch of the terminal to present a new charging base.
The technical set is completed by front stereo speakers and state-of-the-art connectivity, with WiFi 802.11ac, BT 5.0 and USB-C.
Price and availability
In summary, the Pixel 3 has a glass design, more in line with current times. In addition, it renews a processor for a more powerful one and now includes a double front camera. And, of course, it comes with Android 9 Pie, the latest version of Google's operating system. To know if it has improved in the photographic section, one of the strongest points of last year's model, we will have to wait for its analysis.
The Google Pixel 3 will hit the Spanish market this year. It will do so at the beginning of November with a price that starts at 850 euros for the model with 64 GB of storage. You can now book in the Google online store.
