But we had to wait for the official launch, and that day is today. Google has just revealed the few details that were yet to be known about this new economic terminal. We are going to tell you all the details and characteristics of a terminal that, right now, has too much competition. Google has never been characterized as a company in which design is the central axis of its terminals and each year this is more evident. The Google Pixel 4a, at least, has its own elements from 2020, although old acquaintances also return. But let's go by parts, on the front what we find is a 5.81-inch screen with Full HD + resolution or 2,340 x 1,080 pixels, when doing the calculations this gives 443 pixels per inch. The panel format is elongated or panoramic, being specific it is 19.5: 9 and the technology is OLED.
The frames of this front have been reduced, although not as much as some terminals of the competition. As for the integration of the camera for selfies, it is housed in the hole in the screen that is located in the upper left area. If we go to the sides, the entire keypad is housed on the right side: buttons for volume control and the lock button that has a pale green color. The left side for its part is completely bare, in the upper one we will find a headphone jack and in the lower area the USB C port flanked by both the speaker and the earpiece for calls, which, in turn, also acts as a speaker.
If we jump to the rear we find a matte black finish that is elegant as well as discreet. In this area of the Pixel 4a we will see an old acquaintance, a physical fingerprint reader. Yes, you read correctly. Google has brought the physical fingerprint reader back from the dead and placed it in the same position it was in on the Pixel 2XL. Going against the current has always been typical of Google, but taking into account the good functioning of screen readers it is even strange that it has opted for this element. Just above on the left is the camera capsule, this good-sized square module only houses one camera and the dual-tone flash.
A single camera on the Google Pixel 4a
Google's photographic section does not shine due to the number of sensors, it does so thanks to post-processing and therefore they have trusted that a camera is enough in the new Google Pixel 4a. This camera is 12.2 megapixels, how much with dual pixel focus, optical stabilization (OIS), electronic stabilization (EIS) and a focal aperture f / 1.7. With these technical specifications, the camera promises, at least according to Google, to take portrait photos, photos with high dynamic range and good results at night thanks to the Night Vision mode. As for the camera for selfies of the Google Pixel 4a, the sensor is 8 megapixels and has a fixed focus in addition to a focal aperture f / 2.0. It promises the typical and expected results of a camera behind Google's software.As for video, the Google Pixel 4a comes with 4K recording and 30 frames per second, in addition to slow motion in FHD and 120fps, even at 240fps with 720p resolution.
Price and availability of the new Google mid-range
The Google Pixel 4a is a mid-range terminal and as such has a moderately competitive price. It is not yet available to buy, we can only reserve it on the Google website. If we want it we will have to pay 390 euros. What we will get for this price is a terminal with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage. As for the battery, this would be 3,140 mAh with fast charging of 18W. It is clear that the technical specifications are not the strong point of this terminal, it is its camera and for us to talk in detail about it you will have to wait for the analysis.
