- What mobiles would update to Android 8.1?
Google has confirmed the arrival of Android 8.1 Oreo in the coming weeks. It will initially to the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL and in beta mode. However, it is a great step for the evolution of the system, currently present in very few computers. It is expected that Android 8.1 will also land on some Nexus devices, and that later it will do the same in those models of manufacturers that bet on this platform. There are none conformed, but it is expected that those that get Android 8 can be updated in the coming months. The Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8 + are among them.
Possible Android 8.1 improvements
Although it is not very clear for now what news we can find in this new version, everything indicates that there will be obvious changes. Especially at the level of performance, security and stability. We must remember that the jump from Android 7.0 to Android 7.1 was focused, above all, on customization issues. In Android 8.1 we expect the same. It is quite possible that Google will improve its services in order to increase the purchase of its own smartphones. Next, we review the possible news that we would find.
Redesigned Pixel Launcher
Each new Android update has brought a design change to the app launcher. For now, Google hasn't changed the Pixel Launcher interface yet. This means that it is very likely that we will soon be able to enjoy a new interface with new functionalities. Adaptive icons are expected to reveal transition animations at the time of scrolling.
WiFi automatically activated
The previous version of Android 8.0 inaugurated the option for the WiFi to be activated automatically when detecting our presence at home, or near a saved network. The truth is that all this disappeared in the final version of Android 8.0 Oreo. It would be good news if we could make use of it in Android 8.1.
Windows mode on tablets
Google could be planning to redesign the interface for tablets and introduce the windowed mode at once. In this way, it could better compete with convertibles governed by Windows. Will we see it in Android 8.1?
Google Lens
Last Google I / O 2017 Google Lens was announced. It is a feature of Google Assistant that will allow us to recognize any type of object with the mobile camera, thus obtaining more data about what we are observing. There are many expectations placed on this function and it is quite likely that it will land exclusively on Android 8.1, as it happened with Google Assistant on Android 7.1.
What mobiles would update to Android 8.1?
As we say, the first to get the new update will be the Google Pixels (in beta version), then some Nexus. However, Android 8.1 would end up reaching a large majority of mobiles that manage to update to Android 8.0. Samsung, for example, will update high-end models, Galaxy S8, S8 + or Galaxy Note 8. The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 or Galaxy A3 2017 will also end up ruled by Oreo.
In the case of other manufacturers such as Huawei, Android 8 is expected to reach models like the Huawei P10 or Huawei Mate 9. The new Mate 10 will land in November with this version directly, so it is very possible that it will receive Android 8.1 later. In the last hours Lenovo has also confirmed that the K8 family will be able to update to this system version.
