Gigaset is strongly committed to the autonomy of its new mobile devices. Especially for the Gigaset GS270 and GS270 Plus. These two recent additions to the catalog of the mid-range of the German company boast a battery that lasts between two and three days without resorting to the charger. And all this with normal and even high use, with powerful applications, games and social networks. Thus, as was the case with previous smartphones and even with their wireless landlines, the Teutons seem to want to make charging power the hallmark of the house.
After several days in our hands, we can confirm that Gigaset's promotional claim is correct. After almost 50 hours of daily use we have not had to remove the charger from the drawer. Thanks to its 5000 mAh lithium polymer battery. For the rest, it works fluently, is simple and intuitive. In addition, it incorporates some not inconsiderable extras such as FM Radio or a fingerprint reader.
The new Gigaset mobile has reached the market in two versions, the GS270 and the GS270 Plus. The first one has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of flash memory and is only available in gray. Its price is 200 euros. The second, for its part, has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of flash memory. It can be found in gray and blue "Urban" and its sale price is 230 euros. In both cases the internal memory can be expanded up to 128 GB with a microSD card. We have tested the second model, and the feelings have been quite positive. Especially if we pay attention to its more than affordable sale price.

Correct and elegant design
Gigaset GS270 and GS270 Plus stand out for their unpretentious design. Germanic sobriety is felt in its minimalist aesthetic. On the front we find the 5.2-inch IPS full HD screen delimited by two black bands. While at the top is the front camera and the speaker. At the bottom are the touch buttons to navigate the device.
The back cover, in our blue “Urban” case, is made of hard plastic. They have included in the mobile case a gel back cover to protect it from drops and bumps. The camera is located in the upper left part of the back case. Its outer edge protrudes slightly from the surface of the phone. Below this is the flash. If we continue going down we find, in the central part, the fingerprint sensor. And, a little further south, the brand's name in silver letters.
At the bottom are the speaker slots. And above these, the Gigaset quality certificate, the recycling recommendations and the place of manufacture. This has especially caught our attention, since these specifications are usually placed inside the device. For those who do not want to have all this information present, you can always use the protective cover that is included.
As for the edges, they are rounded to facilitate its grip. If we look at the phone from the front, on the right side we find the power and volume buttons. On the left is the dual SIM slot and for the SD card. The bottom edge has the slot for the charger and the antenna. The top one, meanwhile, has the headset. Its dimensions are 7.4 x 0.9 x 15 centimeters, with a weight of 159 grams.

Good performance for a mid-range mobile
The Gigaset GS270 offers great performance for a device of its characteristics. If we compare it with that of mid-range mobiles with similar specifications and prices, such as the BQ Aquaris V, we find that their performance is slightly higher. Especially in the battery, the great strength of this Smartphone.
Its screen is full HD IPS 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is a correct panel, without great fanfare. It has allowed us to display high resolution images with correct sharpness. As well as different applications without problems. Regarding its physical characteristics, it has a super smooth 2.5D glass. This one is highly resistant to scratches and stains, so it is able to significantly disguise finger marks. In addition, it is very light, which helps to reduce the overall weight of the device.
As for its processor, it is a 1.5 GHz Octa-Core. The version we have tested has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128 GB with a microSD card. You can also find the same model with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory.
When used with different applications, we have found that it works smoothly and without problems. Whether with more demanding apps, like Lightroom, or with different games, like Mario Run, it works correctly. Also, the tools open and run pretty quickly.
Beyond our personal tests, we have faced the Gigaset GS 270 Plus with the most demanding tests. These have been the results offered by AnTuTu Benchmark and Geekbench 4:
As we can see, its results are modest, in the line of mid-range models with prices around 200 euros.
Simple cameras
The Gigaset GS270 Plus's camera is correct for its price. The model boasts a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It must be said that, in this price range, we cannot expect mobiles to have spectacular lenses. And they do not usually offer surprising performances in photos at night or in poorly lit environments. The sharpness offered by the cameras (especially the rear) are in line with the 200 euro mobile phones.
As with any camera, the better the lighting conditions, the higher the quality of the photograph. One aspect that itself is good the correspondence preview / photo. And it is that the image that we see on the screen before taking the image is similar to the final result of the snapshot.
In mobile phones of other brands, we have observed that this correspondence was uneven. Thus, we have found that, sometimes, to a rather poor preview, sometimes a photo with an acceptable quality corresponded to it.
One aspect to improve is autofocus. When touching the different parts of the screen to obtain a selective focus, we observe that it costs him; however, automatic exposure metering is good. By selecting the various areas of a scene with different lights, the camera makes quick and accurate measurements. In this way, you adjust the parameters so that the selected zone comes out with the correct lighting. As for video, it records at a maximum resolution of 1080p.
Regarding the options offered by the camera controller, picture-in-picture has caught our attention. This is a function that allows you to integrate two photos into one when taking the snapshot. In this way, it activates the front and rear cameras to integrate the images that both collect.
Operating system and software
Gigaset has opted for Android 7 Nougat for the operating system of its GS270 and GS270 Plus. And we found your system to be quite ”˜clean” ™, as the standard applications that come are few. Although, yes, it includes the most prominent ones from Google and one from Gigaset. As well as some own apps in perfect German. The fact of selecting a limited number of applications, added to the good RAM memory, contributes to the smartphone running quite smoothly.
Autonomy and connectivity
And finally we come to the great strength of the Gigaset GS270 and GS270 Plus. Because a battery that lasts two or three days without the need to charge and with continued use is important news. Its 5000mAh lithium polymer battery contributes to this. Which, in addition, incorporates a fast charging system that allows it to be completed in just an hour and a half.
We have tried both extremes. In a day of intense use, with the continued use of demanding games and apps, social networks and email, and the brightness of the screen at maximum, it has reached the end of the day with a 40% charge. On the other hand, in a situation of rest, in which only some notifications and calls have entered, it has reached the fifth day with 25% battery.
But, for those who only trust the tests, we have subjected it to the AnTuTu Tester examination. This application has awarded 7,965 points. A figure that places it well above competitors with similar characteristics and prices.
Regarding connectivity, it is compatible with 4G networks, has WiFi 802.11 b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.2. In addition, it has two SIM card slots. In that same tray you can place a microSD card of up to 128 GB. In this way, the internal memory of the Gigaset GS270 can be greatly expanded.
Price and availability
The latest device from the German company is already on sale. Both through its website and in the main e-commerce stores. Depending on the model that the user chooses, its price will vary. The Gigaset GS270, with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, is priced at 200 euros. For 30 euros more we find the Gigaset GS270 Plus, with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal memory.
Conclusions
Gigaset GS270 has surprised us for good. It is a terminal that offers very good performance for a mid-range mobile. And at a fairly affordable price. Its operation has been fluid at all times, both in the lightest and most demanding applications.
But the best of this device is, without a doubt, their autonomy. A smartphone whose battery lasts two days with relative ease is not very common. And more with high usage and maximum screen brightness. A great option for those who don't want to be relying on cables every few hours.
Among the points to improve for the Gigaset GS270 and GS270 Plus are its camera. The resolution of the rear is well calibrated at 13 megapixels, although it could improve the quality of your lens a bit.
But, ignoring this point we have to admit that the Gigaset GS270 is a good mobile. Good performance, smooth navigation and an enviable autonomy for a device that moves between 200 and 230 euros.
