Rumors about the existence of a Lite version (that is, a simpler and cheaper version) of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 have just been confirmed. We are talking about the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, a new smartphone from the South Korean company Samsung that will have a design very similar to the Note 3 with the difference that the specifications will be reduced to give rise to a much more affordable phone. With the leak of the specifications of this phone that has just been produced, it is completely confirmed that Samsung will present this phone officially in the coming months (probably in February).
The design of the Galaxy Note 3 Neo will be a mix between a renewed look of the Note 2 and a design somewhat less sophisticated than that of the Note 3. The first feature in which the presence of the Neo version of the Note 3 will be evident is the screen, which will go from having a size of 5.7 inches to a size of 5.55 inches. It is about a screen size practically equal to that of the Note 2, since in the case of this mobile the screen was 5.5 inches. The thickness of the phone goes from 8.3 mm of the Note 3 to8.6 millimeters, a practically negligible difference.
Inside the Note 3 Neo there have also been important modifications in relation to its older brother, the Note 3. For starters, the processor now has six cores divided into two parts: two cores running at a clock speed of 1.7 GHz and four cores running at a clock speed of 1.3 GHz. The Note 3 featured an eight-core processor divided into four cores running at 1.9 GHz and another four cores running at 1.3 GHz. The RAM memory will have 2 GigaBytes, one GigaByte less than in the Note 3.
The phone will incorporate two cameras, a principal of eight megapixels and a front for video calls 1.9 megapixel. The internal storage of the Galaxy Note 3 Neo will have a capacity of 16 Gigabytes expandable up to 64 Gigabytes through an external microSD card. All these specifications are possible thanks to a 3100 mAh battery, only 100 mAh less than in the Note 3.
In the operating system there will be no variation. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo will come standard with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and it is quite likely that a few months after its launch it will end up also updating to the latest version of Android, Android 4.4 KitKat.
For now, both the price of the Galaxy Note 3 Neo and its launch date for the European market are a mystery. Rumors suggest that this phone will be seen at the next mobile phone fair MWC (Mobile World Congress) that is held in Barcelona between February 24 and 27. Likewise, taking into account its specifications, the price of this phone should be in a range of between 350 and 450 euros.
