It is here, after a little more than two months of waiting, the beta of Android 9 Pie for the Motorola Moto G6. This time it is neither the Plus nor the Play model, just the Moto G6 to dry. The beta in question has been filtered from Motorola's own servers, and from XDA Developers they explain us how to install it step by step. Best of all, we wo n't need to be root, just have enough storage and follow a series of relatively simple steps. This time we will teach you how to install the aforementioned Android 9 Pie update for the Moto G6.
Before proceeding with the installation process, it is necessary to clarify that any damage that may be caused to the device falls under your own responsibility. Your expert is not responsible for any of the consequences.
How to install Android Pie on the Motorola Moto G6 without root
If to install an official firmware in other brands we have to resort to root, in Motorola terminals the process is as simple as downloading the ROM on the mobile. The steps to follow with the Motorola G6 are very simple. To do this, the first thing we must do is check the version of Android Oreo that our device has. From XDA they advise that the version must correspond to OPSS27.82-87-3 (can be seen in the Android Settings). Once we are sure of having said version we can start the process.
First, we will have to download the original ROM file through this link (here you can read the original thread on XDA in case the link does not work) from the smartphone itself. Then, we will access the Downloads folder from the terminal's File Explorer and we will move the file in question to the internal memory of the phone, that is, to the root of the storage.
The next thing we have to do is go to the Android Settings and enter the Applications and notifications section. Once inside, we will click on the three Options points that will appear in the upper bar and we will give the option to Show all applications. Finally, we will look for the one with the name of Motorola Update Services and click on it. To force the app to scan files within the internal memory of our phone, we will grant it Storage permissions on it in the Permissions section, as can be seen in the upper screenshot.
The last step is the simplest. We will go again to the Android Settings, we will click on the System Updates section and we will give the option to Check for updates. Now yes, the aforementioned update should appear similar to how you can see in the image above.
What's new in Android 9 Pie for the Motorola Moto G6
As for the news of the latest version of Android for the Moto G6, as it is a fairly pure version they coincide with the news of Android Stock.
The first relevant change is the renewal of the interface. Now the colors and icons are much clearer and rounder. Also the animations of the system have been renewed to improve both the appearance and the fluidity. The gesture system, how could it be otherwise, is another of the most interesting novelties of the new version, in addition to Adaptive Battery, a feature that allows optimizing battery management depending on the resources of the applications in terms of processor and RAM.
For the rest, the notification system has undergone a slight redesign, in addition to multitasking. The Artificial Intelligence of the system with predictions is also improved and a new Usage Control application is included to control the time we spend with certain applications.
