The South Korean company Samsung recently confirmed officially that the Samsung Galaxy S4 would be updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat throughout the months of February or March. Even so, in the absence of the definitive update by the South Koreans, for now we are only receiving extra-official updates that allow us to see in first person what this new version of Google's operating system will be like. The latest leak corresponds to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in its version with build number I9505XXUFNAD, and basically it is a new file that introduces some improvements compared to the previous update of this same phone.
This new version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy S4 brings with it some small visual modifications and also fixes some of the problems detected in the previous recently leaked update. Users who have already downloaded this update will not notice major differences beyond some small errors that have been corrected by the American SamMobile team (that is, those responsible for launching this extra-official update). On the other hand, anyone who updates their Galaxy S4 from Android 4.3 to this version will find many new features: new white icons in the notification bar,new unlocking screen with direct access to the camera, improved keyboard, increased performance of the terminal and other minor news.
Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Samsung Galaxy S4, how to update?
Before making any extra-official update, it is important to know that this type of update carries a certain risk that could make us lose all the data that we have stored on our mobile. Therefore, before starting the tutorial, it would be advisable to make a backup of Android to save all the data saved on the mobile. Once we have the backup ready, we can start with the tutorial.
- First of all, we must download the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update file from the SamMobile forum. The download requires a registration in the forum to see the link of the corresponding file.
- Then we will also have to download the Odin program, which is attached to the link that we leave you in the first step of this tutorial. The Odin program is essential to install the update on our Samsung Galaxy S4.
- Once we have downloaded this program, we have to open it and leave it on on the computer.
- Next we must put our Galaxy S4 in download mode. To do this, we simply have to press the power, volume down and start buttons on the mobile at the same time.
- Now we connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable and wait for a blue indicator to appear in the Odin program.
- We have to make sure that the " re-partition " box is disabled, and then we can proceed to copy the update files into the phone. Once we have done it, we will only have to press the Start button and wait for the phone to update.
- Let's remember that this update is not official, so we must assume all risks when installing it on our phone.
