The mid-range is becoming more powerful, and the high-end increasingly has exorbitant prices. Proof of this is the new iPhone SE, which offers the same processor as the iPhone 11 Pro (mobiles of more than 1,000 euros), in a device with a price of 500 euros. Huawei, after announcing its new catalog of flagships, the Huawei P40 series, have launched three new mid-range models: the Huawei Nova 7, Nova 7 SE and Nova 7 Pro. All of them have features that will be very interesting to you: 5G technology, panoramic screens, 64 MP cameras… The bad? That buying one of these models will not be easy.
And not because of the price, but because the Nova series does not usually arrive in Spain. Therefore, if we want to acquire any of these devices, we will have to look for them in import stores, such as Gearbest, Aliexpress etc. This not only makes the guarantee not work in Spain (beware, some online stores may offer a guarantee). It also causes the price to increase considerably compared to that of China, or that it does not have compatible bands. In the case of Google services, it would not be a problem: Huawei already sells terminals without Google Play in Spain.
Huawei Nova 7 SE
Huawei Nova 7e with camera directly on the screen.
The new Nova 7 series arrives in three devices. Nova 7 SE, Nova 7 and Nova 7 Pro. We start talking about the 7 SE which is the cheapest model. This computer has a Kirin 820 chip, a cho-core processor that has 8 GB of RAM and two versions of internal storage: 128 or 256 GB. The screen is 6.5 inches, with Full HD + resolution. All this with a 4,000 mAh battery, which also has 40W fast charging. It arrives with Android 10 and EMUI 10.1.
The Huawei Nova 7 SE has a quad camera on the back . The main sensor has a resolution of 64 MP, it is accompanied by an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, as well as a 2-megapixel macro sensor and another for depth of field of the same resolution. The front lens is 16 megapixels.
In design, the three terminals are very similar. The rear is made of glass, with a flat finish and the quadruple camera located in the upper area. The front changes in the SE model, we only have a camera that is directly on the screen, and although the frames are minimal, in the SE model they are somewhat more pronounced than in the two higher versions.
Huawei Nova 7
The Huawei Nova 7 follows the design lines of the Nova 6, but with a rectangular camera module.
The Huawei Nova 7 is the midsize model. Here we already see some somewhat higher specifications. For example, we went from a Kirin 820 to a 985, a more powerful chipset. The RAM and storage configuration remains: 8 GB with 128 or 256 GB of internal memory. Also the battery: 4,000 mAh with a 40W load. Of course, the screen is slightly larger, but we went from an IPS panel in the SE to one with 6.53 ”OLED technology and Full HD + resolution.
In the photographic section there are also some differences. The main camera has the same resolution: 64 megapixels. However, this one has a brighter f / 1.8 aperture. It is followed by an 8 megapixel wide angle, as well as a telephoto of the same resolution. The fourth camera is a 2 MP macro sensor, for close-up photography. The Nova 7's front camera goes up to 32 megapixels.
Huawei Nova 7 Pro
The Nova 7 Pro shares many features with the Nova 7: same processor, RAM and storage. Also the 4,000 mAh battery and 40W charge. The screen size grows to 6.57 ”. Also OLED panel and Full HD + resolution.
The Nova 7's older brother also has a very similar design, but with more screen and power.
In the photographic section we see the same 64 megapixel main sensor, as well as the second 8 megapixel ultra wide angle. The telephoto camera also maintains the resolution, but with a 5x optical zoom. Lastly, the 2 MP macro sensor. A second 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens is added to the selfie camera, plus the one we already saw in the normal 32-megapixel model.
There are hardly any differences in the design: the lenses are larger, especially the telephoto, but the back remains flat. In addition, the front has a double camera directly on the screen and with a fingerprint reader under it, as in the Nova 7. As the SE model has an IPS panel, the scanner is located on the side.
Price and availability
The Huawei Nova 7 SE, Nova 7 and Nova 7 Pro have been announced in China. At the moment, we only know the prices of the economy version. The version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage costs about 2,400 Yuan, which is about 315 euros to change. The variant with 256 GB goes up to 3,800 yuan, about 370 euros to change.
We do not know if these terminals will reach Spain. If they do, they will arrive without Google's services or applications. Of course, the price could be very interesting for those more expert users who can add the services through some other method.
