HDM Global, responsible for Nokia devices, will update new models to Android 9 Pie shortly. This has been confirmed by Juho Sarvikas, the company's product manager, through his Twitter account. The executive has published a calendar with the terminals that will receive the new version of the platform and the approximate dates for its arrival. They will not be the first Nokia phones to receive Android 9 Pie. The Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8 and Nokia 8.1 already enjoy all the benefits of the system.
Everything indicates that before the end of January, the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.1 Plus will update to Android 9. The HDM Global roadmap reveals that these two models will be the first to update and that they will do so this month, so they only have eight days from today to fulfill your promise. The Nokia 6, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1 are expected to do the same in the first quarter of this year. This means that before the end of March they would have to receive Pie.
Later, during the second quarter of the year, Android 9 Pie would reach the Nokia 3 and Nokia 1. And what will happen to other models like the Nokia 2? The terminal does not appear in the list provided by HMD. And it is important to remember that the phone is still testing Android 8 Oreo beta with no known release date for this version of the system. It seems, therefore, that it will stop here and will not end up updating to Android 9. However, the company promised two major updates to the operating system on all its devices. We will see what happens.
Also, it is not yet clear if the beta versions of Android Pie will be released first before the stable versions. If we review what happened to Oreo, there is likely a previous beta program. Maybe not in all models, but in most. We will be very aware of the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.1 Plus, the first Nokia of the year that should receive Android 9 Pie according to the list offered by HDM.
