Yesterday it was the successor to the Redmi Note 8T and today the company has presented what are supposed to be the new Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10T Pro. We refer to the Redmi K30 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro Zoom. Despite the fact that the differences in design are rather scarce, Xiaomi has completely renovated the interior of the two devices by putting the latest on the market on the grill. The photographic section also undergoes a slight improvement, as we will see below.

Same design with a significant screen upgrade
So is. The two phones use a retractable system that houses the front camera of the two devices. The cleanliness of the front and the glass and metal as construction materials is maintained. Perhaps the most significant difference is found in the module of its cameras, which now becomes circular. It should also be noted the presence of a fingerprint sensor on the right side of the terminal, completely eliminating the sensor from the screen. Although without a doubt the main novelty is found on the screen.
Both terminals use a 6.67-inch panel with AMOLED technology and Full HD + resolution. The improvement over the previous generation comes from the hand of the maximum level of brightness, of up to 1,200 nits, and the contrast, of 5,000,000: 1. In this regard, the screen is at the same level as the rest of high-end mobiles, although unfortunately we did not find any improvement in the panel frequency (90, 120 Hz…).
The latest in the latest with UFS 3.1 type memories
The company has decided to go all-out when it comes to hardware. Snapdragon 865 processors, 6 and 8 GB of RAM of type LPPDR4 in the Redmi K30 Pro and LPPDR5 in the K30 Pro Zoom and 128 and 256 GB of internal storage of type UFS 3.0 in the Redmi K30 Pro and UFS 3.1 in the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom. And yes, both have 5G connectivity compatible with SA and NSA networks.
Another improvement that comes with the new generation comes from the hand of autonomy. With a 4,700 mAh battery, both have a 33 W fast charging system. In terms of connectivity, both have NFC, Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6. The good news is that they keep the 3.5mm port.
Four cameras with major improvements
The improvements in the photographic section are not far behind. The most noteworthy comes from the main sensor and the telephoto sensor. While the former consists of a 64-megapixel Sony IMX 686 sensor, the latter uses a 5-megapixel sensor on the Redmi K30 Pro and 8-megapixel on the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom. The difference between one sensor and another part of the lens type: 2x macro and telephoto on the Redmi K30 Pro and 3x telephoto on the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom. Hence its name.
The differences do not end there. Despite the fact that the main sensor is the same in both versions, the Redmi K30 Zoom has an optical stabilization system (OIS) to improve the result of videos and images where the light is scarce. The rest of the sensors are practically traced: a 13-megapixel sensor with a 123º wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel sensor for the bokeh of the images in Portrait mode.
As for the front camera, they both feature the same 20 megapixel sensor and a 120 FPS slow motion mode. In this regard, Xiaomi has decided to imitate the 'Slofies' function of the latest Apple iPhones.
Prices of the Redmi K30 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro Zoom, are they worth it?
The new generation of Xiaomi is positioned directly in the high range, both by features and price. The values announced by Xiaomi in China are the following:
- Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro with 6 GB and 128 GB: 2,999 yuan (about 400 euros to change)
- Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro with 8 GB and 128 GB: 3,399 yuan (about 445 euros to change)
- Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro Zoom with 8 GB and 256 GB: 3,699 yuan (about 480 euros to change)
- Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro Zoom with 8 GB and 128 GB: 3,799 yuan (about 500 euros to change)
- Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro Zoom with 8 GB and 256 GB: 3,999 yuan (about 521 euros to change)
Predictably, the value will increase some up to 450 and 550 euros starting on arrival in Spain. Are they worth it? While it is true that they represent a significant improvement in most aspects, the truth is that the price escalation places the next Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro in a very competitive price range.
If our original phone is a Mi 9T, the purchase will not be worth it for its price in the market. If both terminals arrive with a more restrained price, Xiaomi's bet could be worth it compared to other terminals on the market.
