If you have just received an invoice from your mobile or landline operator in which the figures are somewhat skyrocketing, you can rest assured, because you are not the only one. Maybe you have activated some extra service that you didn't really want. Or maybe you've made calls to extra billing or pay numbers, which are very, very expensive to call.
And we are not talking about numbers to access games, bets or raffles, no. Did you know that the contact telephone number of an insurance company or a hospital can entail significant extra costs? These numbers usually have the digits 901, 902 or 905 in front of them, which means that the caller assumes part or all of the expense.
If we add this to the fact that in many of these calls we usually spend minutes and more minutes waiting, it is not surprising that the bills end up getting so fat, that we get a big scare at the end of the month. But do you know exactly what numbers are paid? Do you have the slightest idea which ones are the most expensive?
There are normal numbers and special numbers
Let's start at the beginning: distinguish them. The first thing you should know is that there are normal numbers: those fixed and mobile numbers that are called and that are included in the rate that you have contracted with your operator (be careful, you should always check this, lest the rate chosen be so minimum that does not contemplate them).
In this way, if you have unlimited calls, you can call all these numbers without having to pay any extra. Another thing is that you call the so-called special numbers. They are not included in any rate, so what you spend calling you will have to pay separately.
The only thing you can do to get rid of them is to look for the equivalent of a normal number, because all special numbers must have an alternative that you can call without spending more.
900 and 800 numbers, always free
Let's start with the first: the numbers 900 and 800. All those who start with these numbers are toll-free numbers for the callers. The one who pays is the one who receives it, so it is like a kind of collect call. These are generally customer service numbers and are a good option for companies that want to offer this benefit to users. Not surprisingly, it is always somewhat annoying to have to look for the free alternative.
901 numbers, the costs are shared
The numbers that are already beginning to fatten our bill are 901. When we call one of these numbers, there are two that pay: the one who makes the call and the one who receives it. However, it should be noted that within this same category of numbers, we can find two levels.
The first is the number 901 followed by a 1, a 2 or a 3. In this case, the amount assumed for the call is identical for the caller and the recipient. On the other hand, the 901 numbers that have a 5 followed, the distribution of the cost of the call will depend on whether the call is made within the province, if it is to another province or if it is international. This means that costs can skyrocket depending on the case. If it is called within the province, the person who receives the call pays more; while if it is between provinces, the one who does it pays more.
902 numbers, be careful with calling from your mobile
You may have suffered the consequences of calling a 902 number from your mobile on more than one occasion. So we are going to tell you what the costs of these numbers are and why they can make the invoice go out of the way. Calls to 902 numbers don't skyrocket if we make them from a landline phone. Another thing is that we try it from a mobile.
Usually these types of numbers correspond to technical attention services, so you can spend a few minutes on the phone. And therefore, get to pay astronomical bills. You must be very clear about the rate that the operator applies to you when making the call, because adding the establishment, the cost per minute and the VAT, the cost can increase a lot. In fact, with some companies you can pay between 20 and 70 cents per minute. You just have to multiply to see how expensive it can be to call 902 from your mobile.
Numbers 905, 803, 806, 807 and 907
So far we have talked to you about numbers that have added costs and are usually more common. Not surprisingly, they are the ones we use most often to contact company customer service, technical services and more. Hence, we are so angry that we are overcharged for something we need.
Special mention should be made of numbers 905, 803, 806, 807 and 907. The price of these calls can vary considerably, but you should know that they all have an astronomical cost. Next, we tell you what each number corresponds to:
- 905. They are the classic televoting and mass calling services. The typical number you call to cast a vote on a reality or talent show. Take a good look at the cost, because you can pay a good peak.
- 803. Calling here will cost you a bundle. Because all the erotic contact and telephone services are in this numbering strip.
- 806. These are the numbers to call tarot, television contests, and so on. Check what they charge you every time you call here, because if you are not aware of it, you can have a partner.
- 807. They are professional services, dedicated to online psychology, doctors, and so on.
- 907. These are premium-rate Internet access numbers, usually disabled. In order to mark them, it is usually necessary to ask the service provider for permission.
11811: a prohibitive price
We have already warned you of all the premium rate numbers that exist, so we recommend that you take this into account when making calls. If you do not want to overpay, always look for the alternative to the payment number, because it is mandatory that companies and administrations offer an alternative.
But beware, there is something much more expensive than all this. And it is to call the telephone information numbers. If you call 11811, you may pay up to 3 euros per minute.
