These are the mobiles we expect at mwc 2018
Table of contents:
Very soon. From February 26 to March 1, one of the most important technology fairs of the year will be held in Barcelona again: the Mobile World Congress. For this year, Samsung, LG or Huawei are expected to be the most prominent companies. However, there will also be room for Xiaomi, Sony or Nokia. The die is almost cast and we imagine that manufacturers will have everything ready to attract the attention of the world with their new models.
The big question is: what will the new mobiles look like? What is really expected of each of the big brands? If you are dying to know, we do a little review based on all the rumors collected to date. Stay tuned because these could be some of the mobiles that are expected in this MWC 2018.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus
Without a doubt, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are going to be two of the great protagonists of the fair. The South Korean is expected to announce them hours before the opening of the Mobile World Congress, on the afternoon of Sunday, February 25. Thanks to all the leaks, we can get an idea of what the Asian has prepared for this occasion. The devices would arrive in a continuous design, with almost non-existent frames and an 18: 9 format, how fashionable it has become. They would re-dress a glass and metal chassis with slightly rounded edges for easy grip. Again, as in the previous generation, they would not have a home button. What is not known is whether for this year Samsung would surprise with the fingerprint reader integrated into the screen or would move it to the rear again.
When it comes to screen size, the Samsung Galaxy S9 would incorporate a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED panel, which would be equivalent to a 5.6-inch for its rounded screen. This would curve on both sides and employ a Quad HD + resolution. For its part, the vitaminized version would reach 6.2 inches, with the same resolution and technology. Inside the Galaxy S9 there would be room for an Exynos 9810 processor with second generation FinFET technologyand a size of 10 nm. Four of these cores will be Exynos M3 and the other four ARM Cortex A55s. All together will be accompanied by a Mali G72Mp18 graphics and an LTE Cat 18 modem, capable of 1.2 GB downloads and 200 MB uploads. There are many doubts about RAM. Some sources claim that both the Galaxy 9 and 9 Plus would have a 4 GB one. Others, on the other hand, are more inclined towards a 6 GB one.
Other data points to the inclusion of a 3D facial recognition system to increase security. Likewise, they would equip a double camera and Super Slow-Motion technology, as well as IP68 certification and a wireless charging system.
LG V30 + Alpha
LG announced its current flagship, LG G6, at the Mobile World Congress last year. According to the latest rumors, the company would plan, on this occasion, to reserve the launch of its new star mobile for a few weeks later. Instead, it would announce a device known as the LG V30 + Alpha, which would come to be a revision of the current LG V30 +. Everything indicates that this terminal would have very similar benefits. In any case, it would boast of new features, such as improved Artificial Intelligence or integration with Google Assistant. The latter does not seem very far-fetched, considering LG's close ties to Google. Many of its products presented at CES 2018, from speakers to smart displays, already include the personal assistant.
It would be a surprise if the South Korean finally announced the LG G7 in the framework of the congress. From what we know thanks to rumors, this mobile would once again boast an avant-garde design. It would integrate an OLED infinity screen with a size that could range between 5.7 inches. The resolution would go back to QuadHD + at 2,880 x 1440 pixels. The LG G7 would also be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, accompanied by 6 GB of RAM. The new model would also include IP68 certification, four dual cameras and a battery with fast and wireless charging (with Quick Charge 4.0 technology).
Sony Xperia XZ Pro
Like the Samsung Galaxy S9, the Sony Xperia XZ Pro is another of the guaranteed candidates for the Mobile World Congress 2018. It would be the first Japanese terminal to incorporate an infinite screen. It would have a size of 5.7 inches and would have OLED technology. The device would also boast a 4K resolution, which was inaugurated by the Xperia Z5 Premium and which was later seen in the XZ Premium. Internally, the Xperia XZ Pro would mount a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, accompanied by 6 GB of RAM.
Its photographic section would not be bad at all. There is talk of a dual main camera with a resolution of 19 and 12 megapixels. The device would have a metallic and waterproof chassis, IP68 certification, fingerprint reader or a 3,420 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 fast charge. The operating system included would be Android 8.0 Oreo.
Huawei
It is not very clear which mobile phone or mobiles Huawei would announce during this year's Mobile World Congress. The latest rumors agree that it would not unveil its next flagship, better known as Huawei P20. The Asian firm would have planned to delay its coming-out until next March 27 at an exclusive event in Paris. However, there is a Huawei event scheduled for February 25, so it seems that it does intend to let us know something.
If in the end he thinks better of it and shows us the new P20, more than one could be left with their mouths open. This model is expected to be one of the great terminals for this year. Its design would be really slim, with an infinity screen and almost priceless frames. Likewise, it would land with the new Kirin 970 processor, 8 GB of RAM or a heart attack camera: triple sensor of up to 40 megapixels with the Leica seal. Almost nothing.
Xiaomi Mi 7
Xiaomi will be another of the manufacturers that will not miss the Mobile World Congress this year. The Asian company would delight attendees with the Xiaomi Mi 7, another infinity screen with dual cameras and facial recognition. According to the leaks, everything indicates that there would be two versions of this model, a standard with a size of 5.65 inches and another Plus with a 6.01 panel. Both would use OLED technology and the 18: 9 format. Also, inside there would be room for a Snapdragon 845 processor, accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM. Therefore, a fairly powerful and high-performance team is expected.
With regard to the photographic section, Xiaomi would repeat with a double camera, although in this case it would be seasoned with features based on artificial intelligence. Of course, at the moment we do not know how they would be added. There is also talk of a proprietary facial recognition system that would replace the fingerprint reader. Other rumors also reveal that it would have wireless charging and would come with a moderate price: from 380 euros.
Alcatel
Alcatel could announce several teams during the Mobile World Congress celebration. There is talk of three different devices: Alcatel 5, Alcatel 3V and Alcatel 1X. All would have an infinite screen or face unlock. According to rumors, the Alcatel 5 would be the highest-end. It would come with a 5.7-inch panel with HD + resolution and 18: 9 format. The processor included would be an eight-core MediaTek MT6750, which would be accompanied by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal space. This model would also have a double sensor on the front of 13 and 5 megapixels. On the back there would only be a 12 megapixel one.
Nokia 9
Nokia still has a lot of work to do if you want to catch up with any of its competitors. Still, he's still working hard and it looks like he won't miss the Mobile World Congress 2018, where he plans to announce the Nokia 9, his next high-end phone. The phone could mount a metallic chassis with minimal frames and slightly rounded edges. Its design would be slim and stylish. Inside it would have incorporated a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with a 4 or 6 GB RAM.
As for the photographic section, The Nokia 9 would have a double camera with Carl Zeiss optics. At the moment there are no details about the resolution, although everything seems to indicate that it would also include a dual-tone LED flash.
These are some of the largest mobiles that we will see this year at the Mobile World Congress, although others are expected. Huawei could announce mid-range phones, as well as other manufacturers such as Alcatel or Motorola. In fact, the latter could unveil the Moto G6, a device very similar to the Moto X4, with an HD + screen and an 18: 9 aspect ratio, as well as a built-in dual camera. Stay tuned because we will give you all the details that are presented at the largest mobility fair of the year.
