Android 9 Pie does not have much of an impact on the world of telephony today. Two months after being presented, we can find it in Pixel terminals and in the next news that the brands present. Little by little, they are announcing which terminals will update to the latest version of the green robot. In this case, we are going to stop at the reborn Nokia brand, which has little to do with the one that gave us our first mobile terminals, such as the mythical Nokia 3310.
4 Nokia terminals that will soon update to Android 9 Pie
HMD Global, owner of the so-called Nokia brand, has just published its particular roadmap for updating terminals to Android 9 Pie. If we already have the latest version of the operating system in the Nokia 7 terminal, the company is now updated with 4 new announcements from as many terminals that will soon have all the advantages of Android 9 Pie.
Thus, the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus terminals in addition to the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco have been ensured the update to Android 9 Pie. The first combo will update throughout this month of October and the second pair will do so next November. However, we must be attentive to the deployment of the update as the data is not specific and may be subject to change. It is likely that the update to Android 9 Pie will be accompanied by the corresponding Google security patches.
What are the main advantages of Android 9 Pie?
Artificial Intelligence takes over your phone
Imagine that your phone learned from the personal use that everyone gives their phone in order to configure it in the best possible way, anticipating their movements. For example, adjusting the brightness according to the use, not according to the environment; or by preloading the applications most used by the phone owner to optimize performance; or saving battery. From now on, with Android 9 Pie, your phone will be more personal and intelligent if possible.
Gesture navigation
Say goodbye to the navigation buttons for 'back', 'home' and 'multitasking'. In Android 9 Pie you will only see a multitasking button and the rest of the actions can be done through gestures on the screen. Thanks to this we will be able to get more out of the infinite screen of our terminal, as we will gain in size by making those buttons disappear. For example, in terminals such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and its MIUI customization layer we can already test gesture navigation.
More assertive phone use
Interestingly, with Android 9 Pie you may use your phone less… or at least in a smarter way. Google tries to make you use your terminal more moderately thanks to its association with Wellbeing, a panel that studies your usage habits and advises you if you are abusing the phone. In addition, at a certain time, the screen may go black and white, inviting you to go to bed instead of continuing to fiddle with the device. It will also have a new configuration to be able to put the mobile in Do Not Disturb, simply by placing it face down on the table.
