Instagram loading very slow? Have you stopped receiving WhatsApp photos because your Internet is too slow? Although 4G connectivity offers quite decent upload and download speeds (at least in Spain), there are cases in which it leaves some loose ends along the way. If the problem is derived from our geographical area or from the telephone company itself, there is little we can do. Otherwise, we can carry out a series of methods and tricks to accelerate mobile data, and therefore, the speed of mobile Internet.

Force the 2G, 3G or 4G network on your phone
Internet speed problems are usually derived from the lack of 2G, 3G or 4G antennas near our location. The best solution for this is to force one of the three networks on our phone to avoid surprises between one and the other.
Switching between network modes is as simple as heading to the WiFi and Internet section within the Settings application. Then we will click on SIM and network and finally on Preferred network type. The ideal is to try among the different options that are offered (only 2G, 2G and 3G, 4G…) to check the effectiveness of the network.
Re-register your operator's APN
The APN, also known as the Access Point Name, is the gateway to the Internet of our mobile phone. As a general rule, this door is usually configured automatically depending on our operator. Unfortunately, the system does not always choose the best way to connect to the Internet.
To re-register the APN of our operator we will have to refer back to the previous settings. In the SIM and network section, we will click on our SIM and immediately select the Access point names option. Finally we will eliminate the existing network and create a new one based on the information that we can find in the table that we will leave you next. The information may vary depending on the operator we have hired.

After applying the relevant changes, we will restart the phone so that the network change is successful.
Change the DNS of your mobile network to 1.1.1.1
Roughly speaking, a DNS address is a type of system integrated into networks whose sole purpose is to translate the IP addresses of the web page servers into addresses that our phone can understand. That is, if the IP address of tuexpertomovil.com is 214.124.25.2, the DNS address will try to translate this same address to the domain tuexpertomovil.com. For this reason, choosing a good DNS address is essential if we want to reduce waiting times when we browse the Internet from our mobile.
There are many addresses, although Google's are undoubtedly the best today. To change the DNS of our device, just go to WiFi and network and click on private DNS. Next we will select Host name of the private DNS provider and enter the following address:
- 1.1.1.1
Still not working? We can always turn to third-party applications, such as Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1.1. The application also has a free VPN that is supposed to speed up the loading of web pages.
Remove the SIM card and reinsert it
It may seem like a simple solution but it is one of the most effective. If we have a phone with two trays for the SIM card, it is advisable to change the card to the secondary compartment to rule out problems related to the phone.
If we detect dirt or any element that could interrupt the connection of the card with the phone, we will have to clean it. Needless to say, this entire process should be carried out with the phone turned off.
Do you have a Chinese brand mobile? Watch out for the 800 band
Brands like Xiaomi, Meizu and Oppo have exclusive models from China. The main difference with respect to the European models is based on the absence of the 800 band, a band that today is used in Spain to provide a network for the 4G connection.
If we have purchased the terminal in stores such as AliExpress or eBay, it is most likely that our device lacks this band, which will reduce not only the Internet speed, but also the range of the 4G network. We can check the information directly in the phone box.
Disable automatic app updates
Both Android and iOS have an update system that keeps a multitude of application processes in memory to obtain notifications, among other things. Although this option generally depends on the personalization layer of the phone, we can proceed through the same WiFi and network settings. Then we will go to SIM and network / Data saving and activate the homonymous option.
To obtain greater control of the applications that consume data in memory we can go to the Applications section in Settings. Within each of the applications we will have to click on Mobile data and WiFi and then on Background data to prevent the application in question from consuming mobile internet in the background. This process has to be repeated with all the applications that we want to control.
Take a look at the apps that consume the most data
It is an open secret: applications such as Instagram, Facebook and YouTube consume a large part of our data rate even if we do not use them. Therefore, it is best to take a look at the data usage of the applications through the corresponding section on WiFi and network; specifically in Use of data.
Finally, the wizard will show us a graph with all the applications that have consumed the most data in the last billing cycle, which is usually one month long.
Use a simple browser
We have not been able to accelerate the speed of mobile data. And now that? Neither Google Chrome, nor Mozilla Firefox. To reduce the use of data, and therefore, the volume of data with requests to the server, it is best to use simple browsers. Lakor's browser is one of the lightest, although we can also opt for Opera Mini.
Both have built-in ad blockers and options that allow us to reduce the amount of data consumed.
And to Lite apps
On Google Play there is a whole compendium of Lite applications whose data demand is significantly lower than that of their counterpart applications, as is the case with Facebook Lite. The rest of the applications, such as Twitter, WhatsApp or Instagram, have options that allow us to control the automatic download of images and multimedia elements.
Otherwise, we can always opt for alternative clients that are much better optimized than the original clients. Telegram Plus, Twitter Lite (web version), Messenger Lite…
And if none of the above still does not work, contact your telephone operator
None of the above will take effect if the problems come directly from our telephone operator. Therefore, contacting them directly may resolve any network problem that our mobile phone has. If you do not offer us any solution, we can always consult the coverage map of the main companies to discover the position of the 4G antennas.
