Xiaomi is one of those companies that bet a lot on the resolution of their cameras. During the last months we have been able to see how they will add 48 megapixel cameras to most of their models, regardless of the range of each one. Also as some new terminals have been announced with a 64 megapixel sensor, a lens that Samsung announced just a few months ago. Now, also thanks to Samsung, they jump to 108 megapixels. The second model to incorporate a sensor of this resolution is the Xiaomi CC9 Pro (the first was the Mi Mix Alpha), recently announced in China and that in addition to the main camera, has another 5. This is what the cameras of the Xiaomi CC9 Pro are for..
The main camera, with which we usually take pictures, is 108 megapixels. Why so much resolution? Mainly because a higher resolution means a higher density of pixels in the image, which allows us to take photographs with a larger size, and therefore, to be able to enlarge the image without losing quality. Or even print it or view it on a larger screen, since we will not lose as much detail as with a lower resolution sensor. It can also help to get more light, as the lens is physically larger and can capture more light. It also achieves greater sharpness in photography, because it can absorb more information. Of course, the 108 megapixels have a drawback that we will notice especially in the storage of our mobile, and that isan image at such a high resolution can be about 15MB. Today, an image with a resolution of 12 - 20 megapixels takes about 3-4 MB at most. Another drawback is that the terminal will not take serial photographs in 108 megapixels, although this high resolution can be activated with a mode.
Beyond the main sensor, the CC9 Pro's camera has four other sensors. The second camera is a 120 degree ultra wide angle. Here the resolution drops to 120 megapixels, which is not bad at all. This sensor allows us to take more panoramic photographs, with a more open angle and therefore, capture more information. The third camera is a 2 megapixel frame sensor. This lens is used for photography at a shorter distance. So we can capture more detail in small objects, such as insects or plants.
The other two cameras are focused on one of the most viewed modes in terminals in recent years: the zoom. Yes, the Chinese company has wanted to add two telephoto sensors, each with a different magnification. The taller 12-megapixel lens allows for 2x optical zoom. The fifth and last lens, with a resolution of 5 megapixels, can do a 5x optical zoom, similar to that of the Huawei P30 Pro. These two cameras can be merged to offer a hybrid zoom (mix of optical and digital) with a higher magnification. It is not a camera if it does not have an LED flash, Xiaomi has added two dual-tone LED flash on its new CC9 Pro.
