While we have seen different solutions to make the front camera go as unnoticed as possible, the front camera always steals the spot. Or at least until now, with the arrival of a new proposal to have an “invisible camera”.
Can you imagine a camera under the screen? Many manufacturers have been testing this technology for a long time, but one of them has already made it happen. ZTE has been creating expectations for weeks about its new flagship, which seeks to revolutionize the market by being the first to integrate an under-screen camera: ZTE Axon 20 5G.
Camera under the screen What does it imply?
While the under-screen camera is posited as the ideal solution, this technology presents great challenges for manufacturers. For example, the amount of light reaching the sensor at this new position can affect the quality of your photos.
The ZTE team mentioned different technologies that go into this system to meet these challenges. For example, they have used a coating with special films so that the entrance of light to the front camera is optimal.
And ZTE's 32-megapixel front camera has a special sensor that regulates the amount of light taking into account ambient conditions. All this dynamics is complemented by an algorithm that helps to optimize the final result of the image.
They have also developed a system to optimize the pixels over the camera area and maintain display consistency with the screen, and have implemented other processes to optimize the performance of both.
Performance and autonomy
We already know that the ZTE Axon 20 5G promises a flat screen, without notch, or holes and almost no bezel. But it has much more to offer.
It has a 6.92-inch FHD + OLED screen with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20.5: 9 and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. And the camera is not the only thing hidden on the screen It also has an integrated fingerprint reader, a light sensor, and a speaker.
Regarding its photographic section, it has four cameras on the back that combine a 64 megapixel main sensor, an 8 MP wide-angle lens and two 2 MP (depth and macro). And as a selfie camera we have a 32 MP sensor.
And if we take a look at the power and performance that this ZTE team can offer, we find other features to highlight: a Snapdragon 765G processor, with support for 5G NSA and SA networks. And a combination of 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of memory.
Moving on to autonomy, it has a 4220 mAH battery, and the plus of 30W fast charge. And of course, it has Android 10 under its own customization layer, MiFavor 10.5.
Price and availability
ZTE has only mentioned that the ZTE Axon 20 5G is available as of today for pre-order, but only for China. And there are still no details about his intentions to take it internationally.
For now, it is available in three versions in four colors (pink, black, blue and purple):
- 6B + 128 GB at about 270 euros to change
- 8GB + 128 GB about 300 euros
- 8GB + 256 GB about 345 euros
