The free HTC One M8 has already begun to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, but there are still many smartphones from the Taiwanese firm HTC that will also be updated to the Lollipop version throughout the year. A new leak has not only allowed us to know the dates on which HTC will update its phones to Android 5.0 Lollipop, but it has also revealed which exact models will be the ones that will receive this update.
In addition to high-end mobiles such as the HTC One M8 or the HTC One, what is really surprising about this list is the presence of terminals such as the HTC Desire 816 or the HTC Desire 610, which apparently will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop throughout of this year 2015. As revealed in this document, the HTC One E8, HTC Desire EYE, HTC One M8 EYE and the HTC Butterfly 2 will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop during the second quarter of this year.
During the third quarter it will be the turn of the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates of the HTC One Max, HTC One M7 Dual-SIM, HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 820u and the HTC One M8 Mini (we assume it refers to the HTC One Mini 2), while during the last quarter of the year owners of an HTC Desire 610, HTC Desire 820s, HTC Desire 510 and HTC One Mini will begin to receive this same update from Lollipop. In all cases we talk aboutfree versions of these smartphones, since the versions purchased through a telephone company will have to wait additional time for the operators to adapt the update to their interfaces.
This document is completely unofficial, so it is not possible to confirm that these are really going to be the dates on which HTC will distribute the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its smartphones. Still, we must not forget that it was HTC itself that promised to update the HTC One M8 and HTC One to Lollipop before the end of January. At the moment, half of the promise has already been fulfilled, and it only remains for the HTC One (2013) to also start receiving its Lollipop update around the world.
For now, while HTC prepares the distribution of its Lollipop updates, it is also worth remembering that a video has recently been leaked showing an HTC One M8 running under Android version 5.0.1 Lollipop. Android version 5.0.1 brings important bug fixes compared to Android 5.0 (solutions to WiFi problems, solutions to battery problems and solutions to performance problems, mainly), so we should not rule out the possibility of that in the coming months the update ofAndroid 5.0.1 Lollipop among HTC's high-end smartphones.
