Finally, after several months of rumors and leaks of all kinds, the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro are official. In the fight for the mobile phone with the best camera on the market, the Chinese company presents two of the best exponents in mobile photography that according to the words of its representatives "is capable of rivaling high-end cameras." It does so through a new three and four camera system that combines sensor technology with SuperSesing Camera systems in the case of the Mate 30 and SuperSensing Cine Camera in the case of the Mate 30 Pro.

Cameras, the beginning and the end of everything
Leaving aside the technical specifications, innovation this year has gone hand in hand with mobile photography. The solution of the Chinese firm comes through a system of three and four cameras in the base model and the Pro model. The main difference between one and the other is found in the absence of the ToF sensor in the case of the Mate 30 and a sensor less capable wide angle.
Using its features, the Huawei Mate 30 uses a 40-megapixel main camera with an angle lens and f / 1.6 aperture. The rest of the sensors are accompanied by 16 and 8 megapixel cameras: the first is a wide angle f / 2.2, while the second corresponds to an 8 megapixel telephoto and f / 2.4 aperture.

If we move to the Mate 30 Pro, it uses a similar camera system. The main sensor and the sensor with a telephoto lens are kept, and a 40 megapixel wide-angle camera called Movie Camera and a ToF sensor for depth calculation are added. At the zoom level, both phones support the same magnification: 3x optical, 5x hybrid and up to 30x digital. The difference in this case is found in the video recording.
The Mate 30 Pro's SuperSensing Cine Camera system combines the two main 40-megapixel cameras for a maximum ISO of 51,200 in video to improve the dynamic range of images and a slow motion mode of no less than 7,680 FPS. There is nothing.
This combination results in a 1 / 1.54-inch sensor capable of live bokeh mode and 4K video recording at 60 FPS. The Mate 30's SuperSensing Camera system, meanwhile, is capable of capturing up to 40% more light in low light conditions and obtaining an ISO 409,600 in images taken even with the ultra-wide angle lens. This same difference is transferred to the main sensors, 24 and 32 megapixels respectively, both with f / 2.0 aperture.
The ToF sensor built into the Mate 30 Pro is the culprit this time around. By having a component designed to calculate the depth of the photos, the Pro model obtains a higher quality in portrait mode selfies .
Design: the last straw
Speaking of designs, Huawei has integrated similar lines that replicate much of the characteristics in the two devices. In fact, the only difference between one part of the screen and the other, a 6.62-inch screen in the case of the Mate 30 and 6.53-inch in the case of the Mate 30 Pro. Full HD + resolution in both, OLED technology and DCI-P3 Color Gamut certification. Where is the difference?
On the curve. In the curve and in the notch that accompanies the two devices. While the Pro model integrates an 88 degree curve above the horizontal on its screen, the base model has a completely flat surface. The size of the notch is the other major affected: having a hardware facial recognition system, the Mate 30 Pro is dominated by a larger notch. The latter also integrates a haptic system called Side Touch that replaces the traditional volume buttons with keystrokes.
Design of the Huawei Mate 30.
The rest of the details are mostly common: metal and glass construction, presence of a jack connector for headphones, fingerprint sensor integrated in the screen… Perhaps the most notable difference is based on the integration of the speakers underneath the screen in the Mate 30 Pro and the level of protection in the IP standard: IP68 in the Mate 30 Pro and IP53 in the Mate 30. It should be noted the presence of a model made with vegan leather on the back in orange and green.
Huawei's latest in hardware
The Asian company has not skimped on the hardware of both teams. As expected, the latest of the latest in mobile technology has been integrated: Kirin 990 processor, 6 and 8 GB of RAM in the Mate 30 and 8 GB in the Mate 30 Pro and 128 GB in the case of the Mate 30 and 128 and 256 GB in the case of the Pro model. Both are UFS 3.0.
There is also talk of a version of the Mate 30 Pro with 5G connectivity, although we do not know if it is a different model from the base model or is integrated into it. Few novelties with respect to the rest of the features we find: NFC connectivity, dual band WiFi, Dual GPS compatible with all satellites… Where there are outstanding changes is in the autonomy section: 4,200 and 4,500 mAh. Both terminals have the same fast charging system of 40 W for board connections and 27 W for wireless loads. Far, very far, from what Apple offers with its 18 W.
Of course, the reversible wireless charging system is present in both phones, although its power is unknown. It is expected, however, to mimic the 27 W of standard wireless charging.
Does it carry Android or Android does not arrive?
Yes and no. Huawei has confirmed to the media that Android 10 is the system that moves under EMUI 10, Huawei's customization layer. The problem is that we will not find Google's apex. Neither application store, if own services. Failing that, the company will opt for the App Gallery, the Huawei-owned store that currently has 11,000 applications in its entirety.
Huawei has confirmed that it will try to expand the number of applications available in the store. Unfortunately WhatsApp is not one of the applications that is available, although the firm has ensured that it is compatible with the Mate 30 and 30 Pro. In fact, the software version is fully compatible with Google Services , although unfortunately we will have to resort to third-party solutions that install them on the mobile.
All this could change in the course of the scuffle between China and the United States, so there is nothing de facto yet.
