2019 is undoubtedly being the year of folding phones. A little after the end of the year we continue to meet new proposals that join the already known Samsung Galaxy Fold or Huawei Mate X. The last one comes from Lenovo under the Motorola brand, who has just unveiled the new Motorola Razr, a terminal that, as its name says, maintains the essence of the original Razr.
The company has once again resorted to the classic clamshell or lid type format, this time through a flexible panel capable of vertically folding in half. However, despite the originality of its design, the new model comes with a set of mid-range specifications, which distance it from the rest of this year's folding. In this way, we can assure that it will be very difficult to compete with the Galaxy Fold, especially taking into account the performance-price ratio. Among some of them we can mention a single 16 megapixel main camera, Snapdragon 710 processor or a 2,510 mAh battery.

Back to classic design, this time foldable
Those who missed the classic clamshell designs are sure to be seduced by the Motorola Razr. Unlike the other folding phones that we have seen this year, the Razr is not a mobile that turns into a tablet, it is a mobile that seeks to become even smaller. Specifically, it has dimensions of 172 x 72 x 6.9 mm open and 94 x 72 x 14 mm closed. It is built in aluminum and glass and comes in black.
Like any folding phone worth its salt, the Motorola Razr also has two panels. The main one, a flexible pOLED type, has a size of 6.2 inches, HD + resolution (2142 x 876 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 21: 9. When closed, it folds roughly in half. The second panel (gOLED), located on the back, receives the official name of Quick View and has the main function of displaying notifications, the time or the weather. Its size is 2.7 inches and its resolution is 800 x 600.
At the level of internal features, Motorola's folding phone includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Its main camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels with an aperture of f / 1.7, while selfies are handled by a 5 megapixel sensor with an f / 2.0 aperture hidden in the front panel notch. Although there is only a single lens in both cases, the Razr uses Artificial Intelligence to improve low-light shooting.
For the rest, the device equips a 2,510 mAh battery with 15W fast charging and Wi-Fi 5 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC or eSIM. The Razr arrives governed by Android 9 Pie. We do not know if with the possibility of updating soon.
Price and availability
The Motorola Razr will be sold in the United States and in some European countries from December in a single version: 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Its price to change is 1,360 euros. We will be very vigilant in case it arrives in Spain to give you more details about it.
