After only a few hours ago the Japanese manufacturer Sony publicly acknowledged the battery problems detected in the Sony Xperia Z, ZL and ZR, it finally seems that the owners of these terminals will soon receive a new update that should completely solve this failure. And, although initially Sony stated that the problems of excessive battery consumption were due to the application of Google Play ServicesThe truth is that a certification has revealed that the Japanese are working on an operating system update for these three smartphones.
This excessive battery consumption appeared after Sony officially published the update of the Android operating system in its latest version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Some users found that after updating their mobile they began to suffer a battery consumption much higher than what they had been experiencing up to that moment. And although Sony at first seems to have explained that the Google Play Services application is to blame for this problem, everything seems to indicate that in the next few days the owners of these mobiles should receive an official update - and, hopefully, definitive- to fix this bug.
The new update will respond to the denomination of 10.5.A.0.233, and will be available in the first place on mobiles purchased freely (that is, without a contract with a telephone company). The most common in these cases is that our mobile informs us by means of a notification that there is an update available for download, although if we want to be the first to install and test this new update we must follow these steps:
- We enter the Settings application of our mobile, located within the list of all the programs installed on the terminal.
- Once inside, we look for the " About device " section, which is usually among the last options on this configuration screen.
- In this section we must click on the option " Update the operating system ". From here, the phone itself will indicate the steps to follow to download and then install the update. It is highly recommended that we carry out this process having an autonomy greater than 70% and using the WiFi connection to download the update (in this way we will avoid exhausting the data rate, since in some cases the updates can occupy more than 100 MegaBytes).
We will be watching the release of the update, which should start to be available in a matter of a few days. Hopefully this patch will completely solve the battery problem that some owners of the Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL and Sony Xperia ZR are experiencing.
