The Huawei developer conference is giving a lot of itself. After announcing HarmonyOS, its first open source operating system, the company has surprised with the debut of EMUI 10. Its customization layer already has a new version officially with improvements and news. One of them is the expected dark mode, one of the functions that will come to Android Q, and that will also be present in Huawei's own interface. During the presentation, emphasis was also placed on performance and autonomy management, two basic pillars that demonstrate the evolution of EMUI with respect to previous versions.
Dark mode and higher performance
From what Huawei has commented in his conference, the dark mode comes to EMUI 10, not only to extend the life of the battery, especially in mobiles with OLED panels, also to help you relax your tired eyes. The company has placed special emphasis on working so that the dark mode is readable and we do not have too many problems when browsing or sending WhatsApp with the background in black. This dark mode can not only be activated for system applications, it will also work intelligently with third-party apps.
EMUI 10 manages to perform in the graphics section with GPU Turbo up to 60% more than EMUI 9.1. And nothing more and nothing less than 70% in wireless connections thanks to having improved Link Turbo. Huawei has also put its two cents in EROFS, its own compiler launched in EMUI 9.1, improving its performance by 20%.
Design changes and more intelligence than ever
The evolution of EMUI 10 is still palpable at the design level. The new interface continues its drive to focus on minimalism, looking cleaner and cleaner than ever. The interface has also been unified, so that whatever device we connect our terminal to always work with the Huawei operating system. There are also changes to the lock screen, more colorful and vivid, improving the unlocking system, which has a more visual appearance than ever. Also, native applications have evolved so that they now have a more organized layout, making them easier to read.
A novelty of EMUI 10 that has attracted attention during the presentation is the use of artificial intelligence when analyzing the content of the images that appear on the home screen. Now the text is placed in a place that does not obscure the content.
Special mention should be made of a new function called Atomic Ability, which automatically adapts the application interface depending on which phones are being used. In this way, we can control the camera of a Huawei device from the smart watch or send files from the terminal to a computer or television.
