EMUI 10 is here. The new version of the interface for Huawei and Honor mobile phones can now be downloaded in beta and under Android 10. EMUI comes with very interesting news, such as a new redesign in the applications, notification bar and a mode dark that is implemented even on web pages through the browser app. I have already been able to try this version and here I tell you my first impressions. But… do you know how to download the EMUI 10 beta on your mobile? I explain how you can have it in a compatible terminal, step by step.
First, you will need to have a compatible device. The Chinese company has already revealed that the list of Honor and Huawei terminals that will receive EMUI 10 is very wide. But, and at least for the moment, only the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro can receive this version. Therefore, these steps only apply to these two terminals. Later the beta will reach the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and other devices of the company. Here you can check when you can apply the beta to your terminal.
If you have a P30 or P30 Pro, you can register for the program, but that does not mean that you will get the update with EMUI 10. Huawei has a closed beta system. That is, a prior registration and acceptance by the company is required. Apple, for example, has a public beta that allows us to access it by simply logging in.
Warnings before installing EMUI 10
- You must have a SIM inserted in your device (you can remove it once you are part of the program).
- It is a not very stable version, so if you use this terminal as the main one, downloading it is not advisable.
- Exiting the beta will likely involve resetting the terminal, so a backup is recommended.
Sign up for the Huawei beta program
What do we need to do to register for the program and submit an application? Follow these steps from your mobile. First, you will need to download the Beta User Testing app. This application is not in Google Play, and we must download it from the internet. You can get it here (it's free). When you enter the page, press the 'Download' button and install the application like any other. If this is the first time you download and install an APK from the browser, you must check the unknown sources box (Settings> Security> Additional settings> Install applications From external sources> Chrome> Allow application downloads).
Once the application is downloaded and installed, we must register with our account. It is advisable to use the account that we have linked to our Huawei device (Huawei ID). Once registered, click on the 'Personal' option and click where it says 'Join the project'. We will see two tabs. The one that interests you is the one that says 'Available projects'. You will see that a new project appears called ES-P30 (model) (model name) -EMUI10… We click on the name and we join. A message will automatically appear warning of the registration in the program, and we will have to wait for Huawei to accept us. They usually take a few days.
I have been accepted into the EMUI 10 beta, now what?
If Huawei has accepted your request, you will receive a new system update with the EMUI 10 beta. To download it, go to Settings> System> Software update. You will see that the new version is available. The download has an approximate weight of 4 GB. As always, it is advisable to make a backup of your data. If you want to exit the program, you must do so from the Beta User Testing app. You may need to reset your device.
