At the beginning of the year, ZTE presented the ZTE Axon Max, a phablet with a 6-inch screen and quite interesting technical characteristics. But as we already know, the world of technology advances very fast, so it seems that the company could be preparing a new version of this device. The supposed ZTE Axon Max 2 has appeared on the GFXBench list of terminals and seems to improve the hardware that the first version incorporated. Specifically, it would improve the processor and the amount of RAM, in addition to the internal storage. We are going to review its possible characteristics.
The first ZTE Axon Max is a phablet that is located in the upper-middle range of Android. It offers a design with a gold body made of an aluminum and titanium alloy, very characteristic of the Axon range. The terminal stands out for its large 6-inch screen with a Full HD resolution of 1,920 í— 1,080 pixels, although this is lower in resolution than other members of the range. Inside we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor. This chipset offers eight cores running at 1.5 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. Accompanying this processor we find3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage capacity. The photographic set towered include a front camera of 13 megapixel opening f / 2.2, one of the best camera for selfies of the market. The main camera provides 16MP opening f / 1.9. In terms of autonomy, the terminal incorporates a large battery of 4,140 milliamps, in addition to compatibility with the fast charging system.
The new model that has appeared in the tests shows a very similar terminal, but with an update of the RAM and the processor. Apparently, the ZTE Axon Max from 2017 would include a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. This processor offers eight cores running at 2 GHz and an Adreno 506 GPU. In addition to the increase in power, this processor is characterized by being much more energy efficient than its predecessors. Accompanying this chip we would find 4 GB of RAM, which would increase the memory included in the original model.
It also seems that there would be an increase in internal storage capacity, going from 32 GB in the first model to 64 GB in the supposed ZTE Axon Max 2. We could also see changes in the photographic set, since the specification sheet indicates that the terminal could include two 12 megapixel cameras, one as the main one and the other in the front. Of course, the cameras would include the possibility of recording video with 4K resolution.
Based on the leaked specs, the other features could be retained. Ie would continue with a screen 6 inches with a resolution Full HD í- 1,920 1,080 pixels. No new data has appeared on the battery, so it is possible that the company decides to maintain the same capacity, 4,140 milliamps. If this holds up, it's a shame the company didn't take advantage of the upgrade to include a QHD display. For now we will have to wait to know the final characteristics of this new ZTE Axon Max.
