The year 2015 is slowly approaching its last months of existence, and although the large manufacturers have already finished presenting their flagships, Chinese companies still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Xiaomi has been working for months on the Xiaomi Mi 5, which will become its new high-end smartphone ready to succeed the Mi 4 that was presented in August last year. But Xiaomi has always managed to launch mobile phones with relatively affordable prices, and according to new rumors, the Xiaomi Mi 5 could have a starting price set at 320 dollars (285 euros at the change).
In short, what the rumor that has appeared published on the AndroidHeadlines.com website says is that the Xiaomi Mi 5 would have an identical starting price to the one that in its day accompanied the 16 Gigabyte version of the Mi 4. The Mi 4, remember, cost 320 dollars in its most basic version, while the other version -the 64 GigaBytes of internal memory- had a launch price that was around 400 dollars (355 euros at the change). To give us an idea of what these prices would come to suppose, we just have to look at the Meizu Pro 5, Meizu's newly introduced beastwhich, with its highest-end technical specifications, will be accompanied to stores with a price starting at 430 euros.
And what are the expected features of the Xiaomi Mi 5 ? Of course, there are more than enough reasons to be surprised if its starting price finally hovers around the figure indicated by rumors. For starters, the Mi 5 could be the first mobile to debut Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor, and it would do it practically against the clock, since Xiaomi seems to be determined to launch its new flagship this year. And we say that it would be a work against the clock for the simple reason that the first units of the Snapdragon 820 will not reach the factories of mobile companies until the month of December, which leaves a margin of a few weeks to assemble the terminals and put them on sale. In the event that the processor does not arrive on time, Xiaomi would have to use some other model to feed the performance of its terminal.
But the Snapdragon 820 would not be the only striking feature of Xiaomi's new Mi 5. It is also expected that this mobile incorporates a screen of 5.2 inches with resolution Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), four gigabytes of RAM, 16 / to 64 gigabytes of internal storage, a main chamber 16 megapixels, a front chamber eight megapixels, the version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Android a fingerprint reader andUSB Type-C port, all accompanied by a housing that will presumably be metal.
For now, the list of Chinese phones that can still sweep in 2015 is still open to new additions. In a matter of weeks we will know if the Xiaomi Mi 5 becomes part of it.
