The Spanish company Wiko has begun to distribute a new operating system update for the Wiko Highway today. It is an update that incorporates one of the most recent versions of the Android operating system, Android 4.4.2 KitKat. For now it is only possible to download the update from the computer, although in the next few days this new file should also begin to be distributed internally among the free versions of the Wiko Highway in Spain.
Since the update has not yet been fully tested by users, the exact news that the arrival of Android 4.4.2 KitKat represents on the Wiko Highway is unknown at the moment. Even so, taking into account that until now this mobile worked under Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the main novelties that users will appreciate will reside in the interface (redesigned notification bar, renewed internal menus, etc.) and in the operation of the mobile (what is logical is that it had more fluidity after the update).
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Wiko Highway can be downloaded from this link: http://es.wikomobile.com/maj.php?telephone=149. From this page we must click on the " Download the update " button and wait for the file with 545 Megabytes of weight that contains this new update for the Wiko Highway to be downloaded. Once the file is downloaded, we must follow these steps:
- First of all we have to make a backup copy of all our data stored on the Wiko Highway, since this update will delete all the information that we have installed on the mobile. Once we have safeguarded all our data, we completely turn off the mobile.
- Next, we must open the file that we have downloaded from the Wiko website to find and execute the " HIGHWAY_KITKAT " file. We open this file, authorize its installation and wait for it to finish loading.
- Once the program is running, the next thing to do is click on the " Download " button, which is represented by the icon of an arrow pointing downwards.
- As soon as the downward-pointing date icon turns gray, we must connect our Wiko Highway to the computer using the USB cable (making sure that the mobile is turned off).
- From here, the program will be in charge of installing the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on the Wiko Highway without our having to intervene during the installation process.
- After finishing the installation and with the mobile phone disconnected from the computer, we can try to dial the number * # 563412 * # so that the terminal tells us what version of the operating system we currently have installed. In the case that the version is V1.0.1408.6 it means that we have carried out all the steps correctly and we already have our Wiko Highway updated to the latest.
