Signature, key or digital certificate is the name given to a series of credentials issued by the Administration to access certain government websites. A few years ago, installing a digital certificate on Android was something that required specialized browsers, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Today, the installation of a digital signature in ACCV, PFX, CER or CRT format is directly integrated with the system, so the process is easily simplified. This time we will show you how to install a digital key on Android without external applications.
Because we will use the native Android options, the steps that we will see below are compatible with any brand of mobile and version of the system. Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei, LG, Nokia, OnePlus, Honor, Realme and a long etcetera.
So you can install a digital certificate on Android (.accv,.pfx,.cer or.crt)
Installing a digital signature on the mobile is really simple if we know how. Before proceeding, it is advisable to make sure we have a file browser on our mobile phone. As a general rule, brands such as Xiaomi or Samsung install a browser of this style as standard. Otherwise, we can opt for applications like CX Explorer, one of the best options that we can find for free.
With the digital certificate downloaded to our phone, the next thing we will have to do is navigate to the folder where the system downloads are hosted. In Android we can find this folder with the name of Downloads or Downloads within the root storage, which we can access from CX Explorer.
If we have downloaded the file from WhatsApp, we can find the file in the path Root storage / WhatsApp / WhatsApp Documents . In the case of Telegram, we will have to navigate to the Root Storage / Telegram / Telegram Documents path. If we try to access the certificate directly from some of the applications that we have just mentioned, it is normal for Android to issue a notification that tells us that "The system is not compatible with these types of files ".
The last step will be to click on the ACCV, PFX, CER or CRT file and accept the installation of the certificate on Android. Then, the system will ask us for the digital signature key to proceed with the installation of the certificate. This key is provided by the body that issued the certificate, so we will not be able to use the system key to unlock the installation. If you have any doubts, it is best to contact the corresponding agency to restore the password or request a new one.
Once we have installed the certificate, Android will release its access from any application that we have installed on the phone, be it Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera or any other browser. To manage the installation of certificates we will have to go to the Android Settings application, specifically the Security section. Next, we will click on the Encryption and credentials section and finally on User credentials. Automatically we will be shown a whole list with the certificates that we have previously installed.
