The owners of a Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact or Sony Xperia M2 purchased through the telephone company Vodafone in Spain will find themselves throughout the day with an early Christmas gift. It turns out that these three smartphones have begun to receive a new operating system update via OTA, which means that the owners of any of these mobiles will receive a notification in the next few hours informing of the availability of a new version of the operating system.
Let's start by analyzing the operating system updates that the Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact have begun to receive. We are talking about updates that respond to the same numbering of 23.0.1.A.5.79. This new version is aimed at the D6603 versions of the Xperia Z3 and the D5803 versions of the Xperia Z3 Compact. These two updates do not bring any type of official list of changes, although everything indicates that we are facing a version intended only to correct errors.
The update seems to occupy a space close to 130.3 MegaBytes, so it is recommended to download using only WiFi connectivity.
The Sony Xperia M2 update (which, by the way, also seems to be rolling out among the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua) seems to have a similar purpose to the Sony high-end update. We are talking about an update that responds to the numbering of 18.3.1.C.0.22, and in principle it is only reaching the D2303 versions of the Xperia M2 and the D2403 versions of the Xperia M2 Aqua. This update seems to bring with it some bug fixes compared to the previous Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Sony Xperia M2 started receiving a month ago.
Both the Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact update and the Sony Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua update are being distributed directly to users' smartphones. This means that the update can be downloaded directly from any of these smartphones by following these steps:
- We unlock the screen of our Sony Xperia and access the Settings application, which we can find represented with the icon of some tools on the main screen of our mobile.
- Then we access the " About the device " section.
- Now click on the option " Software updates " and, making sure to select the " System " tab, click on the icon to update the screen that we will see in the upper right part of the application.
- In the event that the update is already available for download, we will see a rectangle with a number inside (this number corresponds to the version of the update) and with the text “ Ready for download ”. To download and install the update, we simply have to click on the icon of the arrow pointing downwards that we will see in this rectangle, and from here we will only have to follow the steps that will be indicated on the screen.
