Some owners of the Sony Xperia Z3 (in its D6603 and D6653 variants ) and the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (in its D5803 and D5833 variants ) have dawned today with a new operating system update available for download. This new update responds to the numbering of 23.0.1.A.5.77, and apparently brings with it a small renovation of the Home screen and a new specific application for profile photographs ( selfies ) inherited from the Sony Xperia C3.

1. We unlock the screen of our Sony Xperia Z3 or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and enter the Settings application.
2. Within this application click on the section " About the device ".
3. Then we click on the option " Software update " and, making sure that we are seeing the " System " tab, we simply check if there is any new update available for download. If we have not updated the mobile for a long time, it is likely that we will first have to download the previous updates, something for which it is essential that we use WiFi connectivity (to avoid spending the data rate), also making sure that the battery is at more than 70% before downloading begins.

In the event that we do not see this new update on our mobile, there may also be the possibility that our Sony Xperia Z3 or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact belongs to a different model than the one for which this update is intended. To do this we can manually check if our smartphone is compatible with this new version or not by following these steps:

1. We enter the Settings application.
2. We access the " About the device " section.
3. And, within the screen that will now open, we check the numbering that appears in the " Model number " section. In the event that this numbering matches the D6603 or D6653, our mobile being a Sony Xperia Z3 and the D5803 or D5833 being our mobile a Sony Xperia Z3, it means that at some point we will receive this update with the number 23.0.1.A.5.77; otherwise, we have no choice but to wait for a different update.
