A new certification has revealed that both the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact could receive a new operating system update in the coming weeks. The new update will respond to the numbering of 23.0.1.A.5.77, and apparently will bring small bug fixes compared to the version of 23.0.A.2.105 under which both smartphones work today. Of course, there is no doubt that we are not talking about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, since this version is not expected until the beginning of next year 2015.
Taking into account that the certification has appeared this week, it is most likely that the Japanese company Sony will begin to distribute the update of version 23.0.1.A.5.77 from the middle-last days of this month of December.
When the update begins to be distributed, both Sony Xperia Z3 owners and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact owners will receive a notification informing of the availability of this new version; In any case, the steps to download this update manually are the following:
- First of all, once we are sure that there is a new update available for our Sony Xperia Z3 or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, we must access the Settings application of our mobile.
- Within this application we must look for the section " About the device ", which is usually located among the last options of this application.
- Then we have to click on the option "System updates ", which is precisely the option that contains all the updates available for download.
- Finally, we simply follow the steps that will be indicated on the screen to download the update (an update that, in this specific case, will appear under the name of " 23.0.1.A.5.77 " within the " System "). And as is usually recommended in these cases, when downloading the update the most important thing is to download it through WiFi connectivity and having more than 70% autonomy before starting the process.
¿ And what about updating Android 5.0 Lollipop ? At the moment we still do not have a specific date for the arrival of this update, although we can confirm that most of the mobile phones in the Xperia Z range will receive their respective Lollipop update during next year 2015 (and that includes not only higher-end mobiles, but also to other simpler terminals such as the Sony Xperia Z1 or the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra). In addition, a video is already circulating on the network that shows a Sony Xperia Z3 running under Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is quite useful in order to check how this update will work on mobile phones in the Xperia range.
