The Japanese company Sony was one of the first to begin to reveal official clues about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on their smartphones, even publishing a video confirming their intentions to distribute this update in the Xperia Z range. And this time, in case there were still any doubts regarding this update, Sony has confirmed that it will begin to distribute the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on the Sony Xperia Z2 and Sony Xperia Z3 at the beginning of 2015.
The confirmation has taken place in the official account of Sony the social network of Twitter ( @sonyxperia ), where a response to a user has been published in which the person in charge of the Sony account literally comments that “We will start the updates at the beginning of year 2015 to the Sony Xperia Z2 and Sony Xperia Z3 “. Therefore, we can confirm that the Lollipop updates of the high-end of the Xperia line will begin to reach users from the month of January.
But the Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z2 will not be the only Sony phones to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, the latest version of the Android operating system. A couple of months ago, the Japanese company Sony officially announced that all smartphones in the Xperia Z range will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, which includes the following list of terminals: Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL, Sony Xperia ZR, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Sony Xperia Z1,Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, Sony Xperia Z2, Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, also including Sony Xperia Tablet Z, Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet and Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact tablets.
Keep in mind that all these Android 5.0 Lollipop updates will be distributed gradually throughout 2015, which means that there is a possibility that the owners of older smartphones in the Xperia Z range (see Sony Xperia Z, for example) have to wait until the end of next year to receive their respective Lollipop updates.
Of course, we must bear in mind that whenever we talk about Android 5.0 Lollipop updates we do so referring to the free versions of smartphones, since telephone companies usually need some additional time to launch their updates. In fact, the first versions to be updated are usually the Google Play versions, which are precisely those distributed by the American company Google (as has happened with the Lollipop update in the Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play, for example).
