The technological event CES 2015 has not only served so that the big brands have announced their novelties when it comes to smartphones. Some companies have also revealed clues about such hot topics as the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, the latest version of the Android operating system. Specifically, the Japanese company Sony has confirmed that the Sony Xperia Z3 will begin to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update from February.
This has been confirmed this week by Michael Fasulo, who holds an important position within Sony Electronics. And, as they point out from the American website AndroidCentral , this update will also arrive simultaneously to the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. At the moment we do not know if this date affects all countries or if, instead, the update will first begin to be distributed in the United States and then, as the days go by, it will reach the rest of the world.
What does seem to be clear is that Sony is beginning to deliver on its promise to update the entire Xperia Z range to Android 5.0 Lollipop. As expected, the first to update will be the highest-end terminals, but let's not forget that these are not the only Sony phones that have been confirmed to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
In fact, the full list of Sony smartphones that will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop is not exactly short: Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL, Sony Xperia ZR, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and Sony. Xperia Z2, including also Sony Xperia Tablet Z and Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet.
And without knowing what it will look like updating Android 5.0 Lollipop on mobile range Xperia from Sony, today the only clue we have at our disposal is the leaked video showing a Sony Xperia Z3 running low Android version 5.0 Lollipop. Beyond that, today the only mobile signed under the Sony logo that has received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is the Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play.
On the other hand, probably more than one follow of the products of Sony's mobile division expected to attend the presentation of a new smartphone from the Xperia range during the CES 2015 technology event that is taking place these days in Las Vegas, United States. The truth is that Sony has not presented any new mobile during this week, so that both the new Sony Xperia E4 and the new Sony Xperia Z4 apparently will not be presented until, at least, the MWC 2015 that takes place during the month of March.
