The Japanese manufacturer Sony has already presented its new smartphone Sony Xperia Z2, a terminal that will become the flagship of the company for this year 2014. Or at least that is what was believed until now. It seems that the Sony Xperia Z2 will only be Sony's highest-end smartphone for the first six months of the year, then giving way to a new Sony Xperia Z3 that would go on sale later this year. Although it may seem incredible, this news has already been practically confirmed by Sony's Creative Director, Kurozumi Yoshiro.
And it is that everything indicates that we should begin to get used to the fact that the large mobile phone manufacturers increasingly grant less time to life to their high-end terminals. Kurozumi Yoshiro has stated in a recent interview that " Sony needs to update its terminals every six months to maintain the level of the flagships in the market ". That is, from these words it can be understood that Sony believes that for the Sony Xperia Z range to continue to have the same position in the market it is necessary to launch a new model every half year.
The most logical thing would be to think that the ideal cycle time for each smartphone model would be one year, but Kurozumi Yoshiro has confirmed that “ a cycle year for each terminal would make it impossible for Sony to compete against the competition ”. If we look at the competition, the truth is that other manufacturers like Samsung do respect the one-year cycle between the launches of their most important terminals. A good example of this are the Samsung Galaxy S5, presented during the month of February, and the Samsung Galaxy S4, presented during the month of March 2013.
If we take a look at Sony's track record in bringing out smartphones in the last two years, we will see that the six-month cycle is something that has already been repeated at the launch of the different models in the Xperia range. The Sony Xperia S hit the stores approximately during the month of March 2012; the Sony Xperia T was launched during the month of September 2012; the Sony Xperia Z hit the stores back in March 2013; the Sony Xperia Z1 was launched during the month of September 2013; and finally theSony Xperia Z2 will officially be available during the month of March of this year.
Recall that the Sony Xperia Z2 is a smart phone that incorporates a screen of 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The processor chosen for this model receives the name of Qualcomm MSM8974AB, contains four cores and offers a clock speed of 2.3 GHz accompanied by a RAM memory with a capacity of 3 GigaBytes. The internal storage capacity is 16 GigaBytes. The multimedia aspect of this terminal consists of a main camera of 20.7 megapixels. The battery incorporates a capacity of3,000 milliamps. In the operating system we find the latest version of Android, Android 4.4 KitKat.
