The Sony Xperia Z1 has begun to receive a new update in Spain that, at the moment, is only available for mobiles purchased under the operator Movistar. The update does not bring with it any new version of the Android operating system, as expected since it was known that the Sony Xperia Z1 could receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. In this case, the update only incorporates some small improvements aimed at solving the problems detected so far in this terminal from the Japanese company Sony.
The update responds to the name of 14.2.A.1.144, and as we mentioned at the beginning of the article, the only users to receive it have been those who in their day acquired this smartphone with the telephone company Movistar. At the moment the news that this update incorporates is not very clear beyond the fact that it is a small patch aimed at solving some problems detected in recent months in this model of the Xperia range. Perhaps it is also an update aimed at preparing the Sony Xperia Z1 for the arrival of Android 4.4.2 KitKat, although in that case the normal thing would have been that all mobiles (both free and flagged under an operator) would have received the same update from Sony.
Users who want to check if their terminal has automatically installed the update or if they can already download it manually should follow these simple steps:
- First we have to enter the " Settings " application of our Sony Xperia Z1. This application usually appears in the list of applications on our terminal, along with all the programs that we have been installing over time.
- When entering the application we will find different options among which we have to look for the option corresponding to " About the phone ". Click on this option.
- A new menu will open in which, at the bottom, we should see a box with the title " Compilation number ". If the code that appears in this section matches the name of 14.2.A.1.144, it means that we do not have to update our mobile. If the codes are different, we must click on the " Software update " option that appears at the top of this same menu and then click on the " Update " option.
Regarding the arrival of Android 4.4.2 KitKat, for now there is no specific date that can help us to get an idea of how long we will have to wait to update our Sony Xperia Z1 to the most recent version of the Android operating system. Rumors indicate that the update should take place at the beginning of April although, of course, there is no official confirmation that can give truth to this possible date.
