The Japanese company Sony has begun to distribute today a new update aimed at the Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL and Sony Xperia ZR around the world. This is the update that incorporates the most recent version of the Android operating system, Android 4.4.4 KitKat. This version that only brings security improvements with respect to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update that these three smartphones began to receive last May. The update is being distributed under the name of 10.5.1.A.0.283, and it is only a matter of time before it reaches the Sony Xperia Z, ZL and ZR from all the countries in which these three mobiles are sold.
The Android 4.4.4 KitKat update turns out to be a security patch that Google introduced after some flaws were detected that could put users' safety at risk. This update does not bring any visual novelty compared to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, so that users who update their mobile will find practically no visible change in the interface. Although, on the other hand, Sony has also announced that this update incorporates modifications internally that should translate into greater autonomy ( especially when running applications in the background) and in acorrection of small bugs detected by users in recent months (mainly focused on the WiFi connection and the Email application).
The new update that the Sony Xperia Z, ZL and ZR are receiving from all over the world should begin to reach all users progressively. The first to receive the update will be those who have purchased any of these three phones freely, while users who have purchased any of these terminals through a telephone company will have to wait an additional time to receive the same update. In the case of Sony, operating system updates are notified to users through a message in the notification bar, so you just have to wait for this message to start downloading and installing the update. It is recommended to use the WiFi connection during the download of the update, since in this way we avoid spending the data rate.
On the other hand, Sony is also beginning to eliminate from its list of updates those phones that have been on the market for a long time. This is the case of, for example, the Sony Xperia T, TX and V, regarding which it has already been confirmed that they will not be updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and will work under Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for the rest of their useful life.. Something more evident is the case of the Sony Xperia E, a mobile officially presented at the end of 2012 that has also been confirmed that it will work under the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean version for the rest of its useful life.
