The Sony Xperia SP from the Japanese company Sony is currently receiving a new operating system update aimed at solving some of the problems detected by users in recent weeks. This update comes a few days after we learned that finally the Sony Xperia SP will not be updated to the latest version of the Android operating system, Android 4.4 KitKat. Leaving aside this sad news, let's focus on the news that brings the new update that Sony has just released.
To begin we must know that this update responds to the name of 12.1.A.1.201, so to check if we already have the most recent version installed on our Sony Xperia SP we must go to the Settings application and click on the About option of the device. If a version other than 12.1.A.1.201 appears in the compilation number, we will have to look for the " Update " option in this same menu to proceed to download the update on our mobile. Once we have downloaded and subsequently installed it, the news that Sony has officially reported that we will find are the following:
- Improved user experience.
- Longer battery life.
- And improvements in the applications installed as standard on the mobile.
But those are only the general news that we should find. The reality is that users who have already installed the update have informed us that the specific news are the following:
- Better management of RAM, since apparently now while we use the mobile we will have 350 MegaBytes of RAM available.
- Disappearance of the error that caused the continuous restart of the mobile.
- Fixed issues with the notification LED light.
- Fixed soundbar bug in Xperia Themes app.
- Now the profile images of our contacts appear in the messages sent and received.
- Disappearance of the error that caused the failure of the WiFi connection.
- And other news aimed at optimizing the terminal.
To download and install the update we have two options. The first of them consists of simply waiting for the update to appear in our notification bar, in which case the phone will indicate the steps we must follow to update the terminal to the most recent version of the operating system. The second option (and the most recommended of all) is to update the mobile manually.
The process to update the Sony Xperia SP manually is very simple. We must go to the Settings application and, once inside, we must look for an option with the name of " About device ". Within this option we will see that the first option that appears has the name " Operating system update " (or similar), and simply by clicking on this option our phone will indicate the steps we must follow to download and install the update.
