The Japanese company Sony has been working on what appears to be a new operating system update for both the Sony Xperia M2 (along with its Dual version) and the alternative version of this terminal, the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua. This is revealed to us by an official certification in which it can be verified that Sony has developed two new updates: an update with the name 18.3.1.C.0.21 for the Xperia M2 and the Xperia M2 Aqua (both work today under the version 18.3.C.0.40) and another update named 18.3.1.B.0.18 for the Xperia M2 Dual (which works today under version 18.3.B.0.32).
Although at the moment there is no official information about the details of this update, some media have not been slow to say that we are facing an update that will bring the Sony Xperia M2 and the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua with Android version 4.4.3 KitKat (or even Android 4.4.4 KitKat) from the Android operating system. It has been two months since the Sony Xperia M2 received the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, so it is not unreasonable to think that Sony may have developed a new operating system update for this terminal.
But, at the same time, a few days ago the source code of two Sony smartphones was released: the Sony Xperia M2 and the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra. The fact that Sony releases the source code of one of its mobiles is usually a sign that it does not plan to launch any new operating system update for that terminal. In fact, as soon as this release took place, some private developers began to work on the code to bring an update to the extra-official Android 4.4.4 KitKat to the Sony Xperia M2.
At the moment we have no choice but to wait for Sony to begin distributing this new update to users. The distribution of this new update should not wait beyond the month of December. Let us remember that, at the moment in which this new file begins to reach users, the procedure to install the update from a Sony Xperia M2 or a Sony Xperia M2 Aqua will be as follows:
- We enter the Settings application of our mobile.
- We access the " About the device " section.
- Click on the option "System updates " (or " Software updates ").
- We wait for the mobile to detect the new version of the operating system (within the " System " tab) and proceed to download the update.
- In the event that we do not want to follow this procedure, we also have the possibility of waiting to receive a notification in which we will only have to click on a button for the phone to automatically start downloading and installing the update.
