As we announced a few days ago, the Japanese company Sony has begun to distribute a new update for the Sony Xperia M2 that brings with it the most recent version of the Android operating system, Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The update responds to the name of 18.3.C.0.37, and for the moment it has only reached the D2303 LTE version of the Sony Xperia M2 distributed in France, Ireland, Israel, Russia, Singapore and Thailand. Even so, it is only a matter of days before the update begins to be distributed both throughout the rest of the world and in the rest of the versions of this smartphone.
At the moment the exact news of this update of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Sony Xperia M2 has not been released, although as we have been able to know from the update of the Sony Xperia E1, one of the most notable news of this new version for the Xperia M2 is the incorporation of the option to move applications to the microSD card. This option is essential in the Sony Xperia M2, since we are talking about a mobile that incorporates an internal storage capacity of 8 GigaBytes (of which only about half are available to the user), so the possibility of moving applications to an external memory card is very useful in order to take full advantage of the potential of this smartphone.
The distribution of the Sony Xperia M2 update will take place around the world over the next few days. Users who want to update their mobile to the latest version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat should only wait to receive the notification that informs them of the availability of this file. On the other hand, the most impatient users also have the possibility to manually check if they can already download the update, and for this they only have to follow these steps:
- First we access the Settings application of our Sony Xperia M2.
- Then click on the section " About the device ".
- Later, we click on the option “ Update software ” and follow the instructions that will appear on the screen to check the availability of the update. In the event that the file with Android 4.4.2 KitKat is already available for download, we will only have to download it and wait for the mobile to install it automatically. During the file download process it is recommended to use the WiFi connection to avoid consuming the data rate, while during the update installation process it is essential that we have more than 70%autonomy on the battery to avoid problems during the duration of this step. If we follow these instructions correctly we will be able to update our Sony Xperia M2 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat in a matter of minutes.
