The Japanese company Sony has decided to take advantage of these first days of the return to the routine to announce a new list of smartphones that will not receive any new operating system update for the rest of their useful life. The protagonist this time is the Sony Xperia C, which has been confirmed that it will not receive any new update and that, therefore, it will work under the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean version for the rest of its useful life.
In this way, the Sony Xperia C joins the list of mobiles that have also been confirmed as "abandoned" in terms of updates. In this list we can find mobiles such as the Sony Xperia L and the Sony Xperia M, which have been confirmed this week by Sony as terminals that will work under the versions of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (respectively) for the rest of the times. If we go back to mobiles that are still older in the market, we find that this list of Sony mobiles that will not receive any new update: Sony Xperia SL, Sony Xperia Acro S, Sony Xperia Ion, Sony Xperia Arc S, Sony Xperia S, Sony Xperia Go, Sony Xperia P, Sony Xperia J, Sony Xperia Miro, Sony Xperia Sola, Sony Xperia Tipo and Sony Xperia U.
But probably the most surprising update abandonment announcement this week was the Sony Xperia SP. Until a few days ago, all the rumors clearly pointed to the fact that the Sony Xperia SP would soon receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, thus going from the Android version 4.3 to the most recent version of the Android operating system. These rumors began to lose steam the moment Sony confirmed that the Sony Xperia T, Sony Xperia TX and Sony Xperia VThey would not receive any more operating system updates, since these four phones have relatively similar technical specifications. And finally, during yesterday, Sony also confirmed that the Sony Xperia SP will not receive any new Android update.
The Sony Xperia C is a smartphone that was officially launched during the month of June of the year 2013. Since then it has gone quite unnoticed by the market and, in fact, it has only received three small updates that did not bring any notable news (in fact, one of these latest updates took place a few months ago). We are speaking of a very discreet mobile incorporating features such as a display of five inches with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, a processor MediaTek of four cores running at 1.2 GHz with 1 gigabyteMemory RAM, 4 gigabytes of internal storage, a main chamber eight megapixels and a battery with 2,390 mAh.
