In the absence of the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, this Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is the tablet that is missing to complete the trio of devices with which the South Korean firm expanded its offer of personal screens according to size.
And it is that a year ago it already started its line of tablets with the first Samsung Galaxy Tab (with a seven-inch panel and Android 2.1 EclĂ ir system) and continued this year with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (with a 10.1-inch panel and Android 3.0 Honeycomb dedicated system).
Without being confirmed on the day it goes on sale, this device would already have its price set, both for the 16 GB version of internal memory and for the edition that doubles the capacity to 32 GB. In the first case, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will cost 470 dollars (about 343 euros, at the current exchange rate), while the next one will be worth 570 dollars (about 415 euros, at the exchange rate). The manufacturer's own North American website shows these prices.
At the moment, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 can only be reserved in the United States, where this device can already be found in the Best Buy chain of stores. In other online businesses in the industry there are no traces of this tablet, something that in principle could have foreshadowed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 would not go on sale in a short period of time. That being the case, wouldn't this launch overlap with that of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7?
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a compact version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, launched in Spain last August. It repeats exactly the same features, although reducing its size to the condition of a screen just 1.2 inches smaller. It has a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels and a dual camera combo of three and two megapixels ( for the main and secondary sensors, respectively).
For now, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will only be available in a Wi-Fi version, although it remains to be seen if it will be renewed in the future with an edition equipped with 3G connectivity. It is a fairly light tablet, 447 grams, and offers a very wide profile of compatible reading and playback formats. Thus, for example, we could use the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 to watch movies in practically any format, including FullHD.
