Samsung has begun making the April security update for the Samsung Galaxy S9 available to its users. At the moment, it is available in Germany and only for this version. However, it is expected that in the next few days it will land in the rest of the European countries where it operates, as well as for the Plus model of the device. As we can read in SamMobile, the new update has a weight of only 60 MB. It is a very small size, especially if we consider that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 used to be (and still are) at least 400 MB in size.
The April patch fixes seven critical Android vulnerabilities and eight vulnerabilities affecting Samsung's software. Therefore, it is important that you install it as soon as it is available. The normal thing is when this happens you receive a pop-up message on the screen of your device warning you. In case the days go by and nothing reaches you, you can check it yourself manually. You just have to go to the "Settings" section, "Software update" and click on "Download updates manually". You can also use Samsung's Smart Switch program on a PC to get it.
As we always recommend, before downloading the new security update for the month of April, check that you have a backup of your Samsung Galaxy S9 saved. If not, make one before installing. Also, during the installation make sure that the terminal has a sufficient battery level. Never upgrade if it is low or below 50 percent. On the other hand, always try to update when you can connect to a secure network. If you are in a place where the WiFi is public or not reliable, wait until you get home.
As we say, the update is being rolled out in Germany, so we think it will arrive in Spain in the next few days. Likewise, it will also be available for the Samsung Galaxy S9 +.
