- Fingerprint reader on the front and infinite screen?
- Possible specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S9
It continues the constant trickle of leaks and rumors that it will be top of the range for Samsung in the next 2018. The Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected for the next spring of 2018 and, although there are still 5 months left, there is not a day that we do not know something new about this expected terminal. We already 'know' some of its specifications; we know its logo, thanks to a tweeter specialized in leaks. Now it is the turn of design: the Samsung Galaxy S9 could once again move the fingerprint reader to the front panel.
After the disappearance of buttons on the front to increase the screen ratio, Samsung decided that the best place to place the reader would be on the back. A decision that annoyed many users, since it ended up located right next to the camera sensor. This supposed the user to adopt a very uncomfortable posture, so as not to end up accidentally pressing the camera sensor and not the fingerprint reader. But until technology does not allow the inclusion of the sensor inside the screen, and we want infinite screens, it is the only possible place.
Fingerprint reader on the front and infinite screen?
So, does this mean that we will have to say goodbye to the infinite screens that we have seen in terminals like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8? Not at all. As we can see in the scheme published by the Sammobile blog, a patent would have been leaked to include the fingerprint reader in the form of an 'island', in a design similar to the one we see in the Essential Phones of Android or the iPhone X. In other words, we would have an infinite screen… except for a small 'island' that would act as a fingerprint reader.
If this data were confirmed, the fingerprint reader would return to the front of the device and maintaining the infinite screen lines. The user, now, would be faced with a new dilemma. What is more preferable, to have it behind, even at the risk of making mistakes and putting the finger where it should not, or leaving it in front, and having that 'island' design? According to a survey carried out by the aforementioned medium, users are not willing to see that 'island' on the front panel of their new top of the range. So the best option would surely be to leave it behind, but placing it a little further from the sensor of the main camera.
Possible specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S9
In addition to the new logo, which features sweeter colors than the predecessors, we echo some of its most important specifications. All this, of course, without any confirmation. There is still time for these terminals to enjoy the stores of our country at ease.
The new Samsung Galaxy S9 could mean the leap of the Korean brand to the 6 GB RAM memory to its S family. Right now, the model that already reaches 6 GB is its brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 8. In addition, it would be accompanied by 128 GB of internal storage, 256GB if a microSD card and an Exynos series 9 processor are inserted energy efficiency and higher performance than ever seen in a home processor. In foreign markets we could see the inclusion of the Snapdragon 845.
The new Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to make its appearance during the upcoming Mobile World Congress that will take place in Barcelona next spring. In that environment we will finally leave doubts about Samsung's new top of the range. Although it is not sure yet, we hope that Samsung does not delay it so we can see it closely.
