Samsung has started releasing the November security patch for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 +. The devices are receiving constant updates with bug fixes and improvements, which greatly guarantees their security against threats. This latest patch, specifically, fixes 61 Android vulnerabilities and six exploits found only in Samsung software. In addition, it brings a solution for Krack, a very dangerous recent cyber threat that affects WiFi.
The new security update has started rolling out in the Netherlands. However, it will be extended to the rest of the countries where the devices are marketed in the coming days or weeks. The patch is 545 MB in size and has the build number G950FXXU1AQK7. Therefore, if you own a Samsung Galaxy S8 or an S8 +, you may find yourself with a pop-up message shortly advising you of this new update. In case some time passes and you do not receive it, you already know that you can check it yourself from the Settings section, in About device and System update.
What to do before updating
This is a security update, not a software update. In any case, the recommendations prior to installation are the same. Remember that when downloading the package some kind of failure could occur, which could end up affecting your files or data. In that case, we advise you to make a backup of all the content of your device. That way you will have everything safeguarded in case it gets lost or spoiled. You can save this copy in a cloud storage service (Dropbox, Google Driveā¦). Or have it on an external hard drive.
On the other hand, it is recommended that at the time of updating you are connected to a stable and secure WiFi network. Avoid doing the security update in places with open public WiFis. Also, have the mobile with more than half the charge. Wait a bit if it's less than 50 percent, load it up, and then update. As we say, the November security update for the Samsung Galaxy S8 has just started rolling out in the Netherlands. In a matter of hours or days you will have it available for your phone.
