When we talk about Android operating system updates, almost all brands take it easy. Going from one version to another is certainly complicated and expensive. However, security updates usually arrive in a timely manner, at least in the case of Samsung.
This week we were talking about the arrival of the December security patch for the Samsung Galaxy A5 2017. Today we have news of this same security update, but for the Samsung Galaxy S8, which is still one of the flagships of the house.
The data package has already reached the users of the Samsung Galaxy S8 in Germany, one of the few countries to which Android 9 Pie has already been deployed for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9. In fact, this same security patch is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S8, but also the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
Security update for the Samsung Galaxy S8
The update has reached the German market with the following code G950FXXU4CRL3, although it is very likely that this number will change depending on the region in which the update will arrive. In any case, the code will be very similar and in the corresponding notification of the data package, you will see clearly that it is the December update and nothing else.
Be that as it may, users who have a Samsung Galaxy S8 in their pocket should know that the update will be nothing more than a security patch and there will be no version changes on Android. It must be said, yes, that this December data package includes no more and no less than 40 vulnerabilities. One of the most important is the correction to a specific problem of the Samsung device, and that the company itself has corrected, whereby anyone could access the gallery images saved in the Secure Folder without authentication.

How to update the Samsung Galaxy S8
At the moment, the update is reaching users of the Samsung Galaxy S8, but it is likely that it will also make an appearance in the Samsung Galaxy S8 + soon. Be that as it may, if you have this device, all you have to do is wait for a notification to arrive, indicating that the update is now ready to be installed.
However, if you don't receive anything, you can also check for yourself if the update is ready. You can access the Settings section > Software update> Manual download. If something is available and ready to install, you will have the option to do it instantly.
Remember, of course, that before launching any update, you must first:
- Have the Samsung Galaxy S8 battery fully charged, making sure that it is at least 50% of its capacity.
- Be connected to a WiFi network, which can provide you with stability during the download (this way, you will not waste data either).
- Have made a backup copy of the most important content. Keep in mind that any update process is delicate, so you must always be forewarned.
Finally, it should be noted that Samsung offers users the ability to schedule updates, so that they do not have to run at times when we will need the phone. Thus, you can do it when it arrives or, if you prefer, between two and five in the morning. The system will give you this option right after you have downloaded the data package.
