Just a couple of days ago we were talking to you about the next update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat that the LG G Pad 8.3 and HTC One Google Play Edition have already received. Already at that time, we were confident that the new update of the operating system Google would the owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition from one moment to another. Well then, the time has come. A day after its peers, the Samsung device that Google sells to this day has begun to receive the update to Android 4.4.2. It is a data package with version number I9505GUEUCML4which effectively corresponds to the model number I9505 (this is how the device is known, regardless of its commercial name). The weight of the update is 57.5 MB and luckily, it is arriving via OTA (Over The Air), or what is the same, Through the Air or without cables. Most users should start receiving it in the coming days, since, as is usual in these cases, the package will be progressively extended to all users who have purchased the model.
But why is this update so important to users of this computer? Well, firstly because all the data packages bring with them corrections to the errors of the previous version and secondly, because they improve the security of the equipment, increasingly compromised by the fact that Android is a widely used operating system (currently accounts for around 80% of the market share of mobile platforms). The update at hand, whose version number is 4.4.2, offers users of this Google Editiona solution for the error that presented in the SMS service and on which many users had already raised their hands. Unfortunately, it should be noted that this update will not reach all users of the Samsung flagship. As we indicated at the beginning, this version is only prepared for the I9505 model that corresponds to the Google Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4. It is, in case you had not seen it before, a model that works through Android in its purest form and without any other layer of software applied by the brand. In this case the notable absences would be the TouchWiz interfaceand some native applications and services that Samsung usually provides on board its computers.
If you are one of the lucky ones and you have the Google Edition, you can now prepare your Samsung Galaxy S4 to update. Most likely, in the next few hours or days you will receive a notice alerting you that you have a pending update. But you can also check it manually. All you have to do is access the device settings section through the following path: About the phone> Operating system updates. If the update is ready, you should see it on the terminal screen and access the download through a link. Follow the steps recommended by the system and remember two important details:
1) Before updating, please charge the device's battery. Ideally, it would be at 100%, but you can carry out the update at 80%. The important thing is that the process is not interrupted at any time due to a blackout.
2) Connect to the WiFi network of your home, work or any other space that offers a reliable wireless network. The important thing is that the connection guarantees a certain stability and that you do not lose it at any time due to an unstable 3G network.
