The Samsung Galaxy S4 is beginning to receive the Android operating system update corresponding to Android version 4.4.2 KitKat in Europe. This update has begun to arrive from early in the morning to all European terminals, and for now it is only available for the free version of this phone. Users who have a Samsung Galaxy S4 purchased under an operator will have to wait a few weeks until they receive the same update on their mobile.
The news that Android 4.4.2 KitKat brings with it in the Samsung Galaxy S4 are summarized in small modifications both visually and internally. The update itself is not accompanied by any detailed list with all the news that this new version of Android incorporates. Even so, it is to be expected that after updating our Samsung Galaxy S4 we will begin to notice that the phone works in a more fluid and light way than before.
The update has an approximate weight of more than 400 MegaBytes, and to download it we simply have to go to the “ Settings ” application of our mobile phone and then click on the “ More ” tab; once inside, click on the last option " About the device " and enter " Software update" to update our phone without having to connect it to the computer. Remember that to update the terminal it is recommended to have the Internet connection turned on via WiFi, as well as to have the battery charged with more than 70% autonomy.
The reason why phones purchased under any carrier take longer to receive the same update is because each company has to customize the update before releasing it for their customers. That is, the operators introduce small modifications in the Android updates (both visual and at the level of compatibility with the companies' applications) and only then do they release the update for all terminals.
Remember that this update was already leaked at the beginning of February. The version that was leaked at that time introduced new features to the Samsung Galaxy S4, such as a new lock screen, an improved keyboard, new colors for the notification bar icons and other additional news related to the phone's performance. We assume that the official update continues to maintain these news, so that with the data that was released in that leak we can get an idea of what we will find when updating our terminal.
It should also be noted that this Android 4.4.2 KitKat update already landed on the Samsung Galaxy S4 at the beginning of December last year, although it only did so on the Google Play edition of this phone. As we can see, the more intermediaries appear in Android updates, the longer it takes for users to receive their respective updates on their phones.
